    dumb Q but can you make a 289 into a 5.0?

Along with that, the 5.0 have a different firing order, water pump, different timing cover. BTW, the opposite is true on the distributer gear, if I read it right. The gear needs to be stainless steel to match the roller camshaft of the 5.0.

Hey is my take on it... Swap headers are made for specialize application, meaning for example, a 351w in a 66 Mustang chasis. The regular Super Comps does not fit, so they made a specialize 'swap' header for it. They 'may' compromise the regular header design to make it fit. This may be in a...

what is the best spark plug?

I would to say NGK in general. It seems that different motors favor different brands. For Ford, autolite and motorcraft is fine. I don't feel the difference with the NGKs, so why pay the higher cost($3~4). Back to the Orig Post, NGK seems to have the better engineering behind it. They...

Did I get the right headers?

Doesn't look right to me too. Hmm..metallic ceramic coated should be zinc like coating not painted black. If they are Super Comps the part number should be 6116-1HKR, not 6116HKR. Need that "-1" to say it's ceramic coated and have a Hooker brand stamped on it. Maybe some ordering error, cost...

    Got Shims?

When you do an A-arm drop, the same shims(measurement) are used. So, there is really no need to buy some unless you loss some. But if you need some they should be available at any good local part stores. I know Dorman makes them. Call around..
