    95 transmission help

It's a hard part failure. The problem as stated by Ford in the TSB is two-fold. The first cause is a breakdown of the friction properties of the older Mercon IV and earlier transmission fluid due to heat build up. The second cause is undersized friction plates in the torque converter clutch...

    95 transmission help

NAH45212, You have torque converter clutch shudder. Absolutely! You are describing the exact symtoms, particularly the part about it goes away when you step on the gas. You feel like you are going over a long row of those tiny little speed bumps, right, and it only happens at light to...

    The problem Continues!!!

Quote above is why I said most likely a bad PIP module in the distributor. That's the classic symptom of a bad PIP Module. The "won't crank" issue is another completely separate issue. Follow the advice of others who have replied on that issue. You'll get it sorted out.

    The problem Continues!!!

Pretty sure I know what your problem is. Here's some info I've posted before on this issue... I’ve gone through this exact same problem with my 95 GT. It’s the PIP module in your distributor. That stands for Profile Ignition Pickup module. It’s also called a Hall Effect sensor, because...

    Harmonic Balancer

Eric, The only thing I haven't seen suggested here is HEAT! Many times with stuck bolts, stuck anything that's metal, I have gotten them off after heating the stuck part up with a propane torch. Warning! Be careful not to set any kind of solvent or other fluid you might now have on the...

Using a potentiometer instead of IAT

Guys, When trying to work-around this stuff, remember the following: ACT sensor reports the incoming combustion air temperature to the PCM (as measured in the intake ducting typically just before the throttle body). ECT sensor reports the engine operating temperature to the PCM (as...

Using a potentiometer instead of IAT

Guys, The ACT and ECT sensors have a much, much greater effect on A/F ratios than on spark. In fact, the two sensors combined perform the job that used to be done by the choke on a carburetor. Here’s ten pages out of the Charles Probst book with complete info on the ACT and ECT sensors...

    egr problems

"Taking the EGR valve apart" is not really the correct thing to call it. What you can do is remove the EGR valve from the side of the intake elbow and take it out of the engine bay to clean the pintle and seat inside. There are two bolts that hold the EGR valve to the intake. Plus, there is...

    egr problems

droptopford 50, Here's an EGR system test summary that I've posted before. It's for 94/95 5-liter Mustangs specifically, but the components and principles are similar on other Ford products. EGR SYSTEM TESTING: First you need to see if the EGR valve vacuum diaphragm is leaking or not...

    harmonic balancer install help!

OK... you really should have put somes smilies around this suggestion so some poor noob doesn't actually try this! Yikes!!!

I still cant fracking figure my car out!!!!

A big vacuum leak somewhere in the intake system, or a bad sensor somewhere. Have you read your trouble codes out of your computer? If not, that might provide some clues.

    harmonic balancer install help!

Just did my balancer a few weeks ago, and I have an AOD-E. This is what works every time for me: I take a small length of 1/4 inch rope and loop it through one of the slots in the OD of the balancer pulley. Then I loop the other end of the rope around the smog pump and bracket and tie a...

    Some transmission cooler questions

Don’t bypass the factory cooler in the radiator, that’s just wasting cooling capacity that you already have. Come out of the factory cooler, then into your add-on cooler, then back to the tranny. Make sure you go into your new add-on cooler last. That way you get the most cooling possible.

where is the eec relay on our cars?

YellowStang1994, No one has answered because you've given incomplete information. There is nothing exactly called "eec relay" in our cars. EEC stands for Electronic Engine Control, which is the version of computer controls that a particular Ford uses to control the engine and the...

What Sensor feeds the Temp Gauge on the Dash?

Thanks all very much! I'm gonna replace mine. My temp gauge in the dash moves really quickly back and forth between the "R" and the "A" as I'm driving. Very strange! It makes that type of move in just a second or two! Up, then back down, then up again, etc. That's much faster than the...

What Sensor feeds the Temp Gauge on the Dash?

Can you tell me more about what it looks like so I can find it? Also, can you remove and replace it without taking apart a bunch of stuff to get at it? Thanks.

What Sensor feeds the Temp Gauge on the Dash?

All, Where does the temperature gauge on the dash get its signal from? Does it get its signal from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor that feeds the coolant temp signal to the PCM computer, or does it get its signal from a different sensor somewhere else? Anybody know for sure?

    Would a MAF solve this?

Yup... that's two votes for unmetered air getting into your new CAI after the MAF somewhere! Any unmetered air getting in there will cause you to run lean and ping.

Should my car die if the MAF is unplugged?

I see there is some disagreement in this thread. Allow me to quote Charles O. Probst, a Ford automotive engineer and author of “Ford Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Control Systems” one of the best books out there on this subject. SHORT ANSWER: Your car SHOULD run with the MAF...
