This is why I hate Consumer Reports

I totally agree that most people are just brain-washed into believing that imports are SOOO much superior to domestics in quality, but in CR's defense, last year they said that the '04 Mustang was THE MOST RELIABLE AMERICAN CAR. In addition to that, the average problems per 100 cars were...

    Buying fifth gen v6

My friend got an '01 GT w/ 60k for $9,xxx a few months ago. BTW, 99-04 V6's are basically the same. Headlights: Clear [99-00] Smoked [01-04] Hood: Forward facing 'flush' scoop [99-02] Reverse scoop (same as 99/01 Cobra)[03-04] Forward facing Add-on scoop (same as '01+ GT)[Pony...

    South Florida Mustang cruise/car show/race

Nothing is "wrong" with it, it's just taking longer than I figured it would to get it back together. Too short pushrods, head clearancing, cracked water pump, etc. have slowed it down, but I'm hoping the weekend it will be done... we'll see about that. :D

    South Florida Mustang cruise/car show/race

haha, I hope so. Hopefully this weekend or next. I was exaggerating a little because it's taken much longer than I planned already :D

    South Florida Mustang cruise/car show/race

Thanks for the offer... but I still need to get my car back together among other things this weekend, so I won't be able to go with you. Thanks, though, Jesse. BTW, any idea where this cruise/car show/race thing is going to be?

    South Florida Mustang cruise/car show/race

Oooh. I'm in. Maybe if it's in November my car will be back together :p

    weight

The shipping weight on my car ('00 5-speed w/ power everything, leather, base stereo, 16" wheels) was a hair under 3000 lb. I was surprised at that, but that's what the dealer invoice thing I got from Ford said.

Procharge, turbocharge or supercharge and automatic.

300whp N/A? Not going to be easy... you'll need Heads, cams, better flowing manifolds, and pretty much every other thing you can do to squeeze out 300whp. It can probably be done, but it certainly won't be easy, but Good luck. :nice:

    A Relief at the pump!

Yeah, if you're not busy, you should caravan up to the V6 Ford Challenge w/ WorkedV6 and I next Saturday (17th).... assuming my car is back together and tuned by then (it's going to be close  ). Check out the website here or visit the section devoted to it on V6power.net for more info...

    V6 Ford Challenge Upcoming races

Yeah, staying at a hotel in Tampa for the night would probably be a whole lot cheaper than staying near Gainesville w/ the UF vs. Tennessee game the next day. Plus, I'm sure you wouldn't mind cruising along w/ 2 other Mustangs... and we wouldn't mind picking up one more, either. :nice:

    Painting Calipers

Stock '01 "Bullitt" GT's have red calipers stock, so just Google search for pics of one to see what red calipers look like. Also, yellowmustangregistry.com has a "how-to" on painting calipers. It's not that hard, especially since if it's not PERFECT, no one will be able to tell anyway...

    The online V6 Car Show

Where'd the decklid "GT" emblem go? ... anyway, nice car. Spoilerless > * :D

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

Well, if you can hear both equally, then it wouldn't sound weird because that would be the same as if they were "mixed" in the exhaust... but for a good example of a car that sounds crappy because of no crossover, go listen to an early Viper w/ Side exhaust.... they sound like total and utter...

    Couple of Questions

    1. Exhaust gaskets aren't THAT hard. You'd want to get it jacked up and on stands (or ramps) and disconnect the exhuast piping from the headers. Then unscrew the header bolts which are kinda hard to get to, but it's possible (you will have to move the dipstick and remove the intake assembly)...

    The online V6 Car Show

Nice looking cars, guys. ^My car and my friend's 03 Cobra parked out next to the '05 Roush at it's official public unveiling after everone else had left and they had pulled it out of the showroom where it was unveiled and were just about to load it into the truck.

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

Go duals. 1. More room for airflow with the addition of other mods 2. The whole thing about loss of backpressure is crap. The duals, or any exhaust for that matter, may raise the rpm of your peak power slightly, but basically, as long as the piping is 2.25 you'll be fine. The whole...

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

That was actually my quote... and obviously I had the wrong terminology, but I understand the principle of more than one cylinder firing on the same bank. BTW, MSP, I changed my tune, in a way, because of all the V6's I've EVER heard, 05 or pre-05, w/ "performance" exhaust have sounded raspy...

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

I find it ironic that, despite my relatively extensive experience with regard to V6 Mustang exhaust and 351's obvious technical knowledge, you so quickly and definitively discount our input because we don't have "ground floor" experience w/ the '05 V6 and because our input doesn't exactly align...

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

Hey MSP, I wasn't trying to tick you off or anything... Like I said, I was just sharing my experience w/ you guys. Having been pretty involved in V6 Performance for 5+ years now, I've heard TONS of V6 Mustangs w/ all different kinds of setups, and so I decided to share that in my experience...

PUT the COFFIN back in the Ground

This sounds retarded and anti-V6, but really the only way to get the deep tone you're looking for is w/ a V8. Honestly, I've heard a LOT of V6 Mustangs (3.8's MOSTLY, but not all) and, truthfully, all the ones w/ "performance" exhaust have sounded at least noticeably "ricey." This is why I...
