My Engine is Out of My Car...All of the threads

What he said. Ticket...it looks like things are working out for you, and I'm glad the dealer has been upfront and honest. Most are - some aren't. Best of luck.

    05 gt or 02 ws6

Some great advice above. I'd echo the "piston slap" thing with the LS1 - it is not a big deal, and that alone should not discourage you. I would recommend driving the T/A. I had a 99 for a while, and though it had many, many good points, after a while, I found I did not like the seating...

300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

Let me try to be a bit more clear. If you don't like the HP in the car, then don't buy it. Go out and buy a car that has the HP that you like. I suggest spending the extra coin for a GTO, and if that doesn't get your rocks off, a Vette. Those are about the only other choices you have...

300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

Along with the 05 GTO, a Vette will blow the doors off the Mustang too. And? There is no "competitor" for the Mustang to "take out". Ford doesn't care one bit about a 1999 T/A LS1 that was rated at 305 HP. That may comes as a shock to you, you, you, and you, but it is reality...

My Engine is Out of My Car...All of the threads

TicketMeRed05GT....I feel bad for you, and hope that everything works out for the best in the end. For everybody else....stuff happens. Mechanical stuff breaks sometimes - occasionally in a catostrophic manner. As soon as a car company builds the perfect car, we find the perfect dealer...

300HP? Thats It...Whats wrong with Ford

Some of you people wouldn't be happy with 350 HP....or 400 HP....or 500 HP. And if you were, you'd find something else to complain about - mainly because you are trolling a Ford Forum looking for flame bait. When was the last time Mustang GT had an engine option? Come on...I'm sure one of...

    Camaro SS

    If I were going to buyr the quickest, bone stock LS1 F-body, I'd get a no-option 01/02 Z28 - hands down.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

The LSx engines use hyperpathetic pistons, much like the non-blown 4.6 units. They are great for N/A stuff, but do not hold up well under extended periods of high cylinder pressures - most especially with detonation. In other words, long term reliability becomes a major issue with boost...

    JAN HOTROD MAGAZINE

May? It's already starting. I see. So they will be a "moron" for modding their car? Are you "smart" for not modding whatever it is you own? Is this guy a "moron" for modding his brand new 2004 GTO that runs 10s - and eventually 9's - with 408 inchess and a 300 shot of NOS? Bueller...

    JAN HOTROD MAGAZINE

There is no reason that a properly-prepared 05 GT can't run 11's with the stock motor. I would not use the word "easy" to describe doing it, but I have little doubt that over the next several months, someone will do what it takes. The car makes decent power now, and with the right bolt-ons...

I just sold a 99 Cobra that went 11.85 on Drag Radials with 310 RWHP - this was over three years ago. What was your point again?

Thanks. However, I think I'll go with Snorman and just consider you a busted troll.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I'm going to disagree with you a bit here. While I think the GTO might have a slight advantage overall (though it is way too early to decide this, as the GTs have only been out a tenth of the time the GTO has), it is very slight, and a 04 GTO vs 05 GT is going to be very, very close - easily...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I believe it. I watched (and checked out) a bone stock 04 GTO run 13.25 at MIR a couple of weeks ago - same day I went 12.60 in my bone stock 04 Cobra. That timeslip is legit.

Triton V10 in an '05 GT?

I did neglect to consider the new 30 valve V10. It's still stupid heavy, but the power and rpm potential are better (362 HP @ 4,750 rpm & 457 lb/ft @ 3,250 rpm).

Triton V10 in an '05 GT?

It's also very heavy, and has a low-rpm powerband, meaning you could pull a house, but would run out of gear in a big hurry.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

As for the timeslips....the 13.35 was run on a different day at a different track and with a different driver. The GT/GTO shootout was done on the same day at the same place and with the same drivers, thus the results are more relative. When the 05 GTOs hit the track, you will see high 12's...

    '05 GT pistons and rods.

Info: Source That's hardly junk, and certainly no worse than a 99+ GT as far as durability goes - perhaps a bit better, assuming it has the manual's forged crank and not the auto's cast one. Even if it does have the cast crank (which is lighter, btw), it is still easily capable of...
