    Engine Vacuum Flickering at Idle

Just checking if idle vacuum flickering is normal for a rather big solid roller cam in a 347: lift- 0.600 w/ 1.6 rockers duration- 249 I and 263 E @ 0.050 The engine vacuum (at idle) flickers around from 6.0 to 7.5. It's a steady pattern with an occasional jump. Anything to be...

What's a heat riser tube for?

    D. Hearne explained the basic process well (as he usually does), but (if I can recall correctly) I think the 66 will not have vacuum lines running to the inlet tube like the later models did. The air cleaner inlet tube valve was opened with heat from the exhaust manifolds through the heat riser...

Trade: Holley Pro Series 650 HP for Mighty Demon 750

It looks like my 352 wants more carb, so I wanted to try a Mighty Demon 750. Currently I have a Holley Pro Series 4150 HP carb (650 cfm). This carb retails for $659.00 at Summit. The carb is in good condition. The only thing I discovered is one of the bolts holding on the rear fuel bowl...

    Ignition Problems...Help

Yea, these electronics unit are very sensitive to just about anything. Before charging, jumping, welding, etc. disconnect the distributor. I'm surprised my first one lasted over 15 years without any problems. I ordered a new module from Summit on Thurs morning and it arrived on Friday...

    Common leaks for power steering

The PS system can leak from numerous locations over time. Including - PS pump housing, pump connections, all ps lines (probably more towards the high pressure lines), control valve, and power ram. Some of these can be replaced easily, some can be rebuilt, and some can be purchased new...

Pics of my shortened Aerostar driveshaft

Your rearend yoke can also play a part in the overall driveline length, best to check. My 1966 C4 and Toploader are the same length.

    Ignition Problems...Help

I checked everything mentioned in the previous posts and also visited a Mallory troubleshooting web page. Looks like I spiked the module on the distributor??? Weird thing my second Mallory distributor had the same problem, but no remote starter was used with it. The rest of the wiring (coil...

    Ignition Problems...Help

Car was running fine, but I needed to adjust the valves. I decided to use the firing order method to adjust the valves. To turn the motor over I used a remote starter switch. Disconnected the coil wire to prevent fire up and started adjusting valves one cylinder at a time. Adjustment went...

    spindle help

The 65/66 drum and disc spindles are the same (I know you might have heard otherwise). I did the conversion last year. I was told numerous times they were different, but the're working on my car now. I think you have pictured a set of 65/66 and a single 67 spindle. The difference between...

Trip to Atlanta Dragway: March 9th

I would not mind going, but the drive would kill me and my wallet. My 352 fired up for the first time last night. A little rough and rattled the garage for a while...may see some track time soon.

    Disc spindle vs drum soindle

With the 65-67 that is correct. I was told by many they were different, but my Mustangs are living proof that they are the same.

Going from 289 flat tappet to roller 302, which pushrods?

If cash is a concern, here is some info to make your own pushrod checker (from another web site): "Simply take an old push rod and cut it about 1 to 1.5 inches from the end. Use a 1/4"-20 tap to cut threads into the open ends, and then screw in a short piece of 1/4-in. threaded rod. Use some...

Going from 289 flat tappet to roller 302, which pushrods?

Sounds like that might get you there, but has anything been decked (block or heads), rocker arms (ratio change), modifications to valve spring height, and head gasket thickness? All of these lead to changes in the pushrod length to some degree. I'm running a 1968 302 block (zero decked), new...

Going from 289 flat tappet to roller 302, which pushrods?

As every cam/head guru has told me, you should always check your valve geometry when new parts (non-stock) are added or old ones modified. Buy an adjustable push rod...it will give you the answer.

    NEED Cam Eccentric (1 pc)

Over the past weekend I went to the Turlock Swap Meet and found nothing. I rummaged through boxes and boxes of old dirty Mustang parts. Some vendors claimed they had one or some, but left them at home. :notnice:

    motor mounts

It's doable. Use a 2x4 and a jack to lift the motor up slightly, but don't over do it. While you're at it add a bolt through the drivers side mount for added security.
