Drivetrain New Gears Or Engine Bolt-ons?

The best bang for the buck in car performance is always gears, engine HP is usually headers, but these days the ecm and intake would probably be the cheapest HP/per dollar

what performance options do you think the 3.8 needs

The 01 also has about 30 more HP than his car because of the heads, intake, which is also a worthwhile swap.

    Limited slip diff

8.8s don't break and there's a ton of aftermarket parts for them, plus (depending on the model) you get disc brakes. They drop right in, srsly, there's no reason NOT to go to one. I mean you;re going to fiddle dick around with the 7.5 and put a posi in it, it will probably need axles because...

what performance options do you think the 3.8 needs

Well we changed it to run on 91 octane and then ran another chip for the NO2. On the street you would probably only maximize it to run on the 91. I would do the air intake then the exhaust then the chip to maximize the other changes. Call this guy 727 657 2956 ( Brian) and tell him you want a...

what performance options do you think the 3.8 needs

I ran mine with power pulleys, a chip, real dual exhausts (with an X pipe) air intake, aluminum flywheel and an 8.8, 3.73 in it. With a 75 shot it ran 14.38 at 97 mph with the guy granny shifting.

    Limited slip diff

Definitely get an 8.8 out of a mustang they drop right in, the rears are stronger, there's just no reason not to buy one. I ran an 8.8 3.73 limited slip behind my v6 mustang autocrosser for years. It was actually out of a turbo bird and I had to remove something that was in the way of the v6...

    mystery oil pressure problem

In real life, the eternal fix is to plug the oil pump relief valve, then run a remote oil filter and plumb an adjustable relief valve into that line.

    mystery oil pressure problem

sounds like someone was trying to spin the driveshaft with it and dropped it down the hole and left it rather than try to drop the pan. Yep Also, I didn't think pulling the pan in the car was that big of a deal, I knocked it (the pump changeout) out in a day BTW now would be a good time to...

    mystery oil pressure problem

I just had a motor that wiped out the bottom end, it had 60 psi pressure I revved it up and it went to about 75 then the oil pump relief valve kicked in and it dropped to around 40...then went down more and more until about 10 psi then zero at idle. There was some crap that went through the oil...

    Exhaust Loading Up And Dying.

I've actually started an engine without any exhaust on it to see if it would at least start. then shut it off immediately to prevent exhaust valve warpage. I don't think that you have to worry about an aftermarket exhaust (or a shorter exhaust, or an exhaust with no muffler) warping the exhaust...

    cylinder deglaze

I prefer the three stone hone and then a touch up with the berry hone, IMO the three stone keeps the bore straighter, where the berry will try to follow any irregularities in the bore. Of course if it's too far off it's re-bore time. You will also have to move that hone like a madman to get the...
