    radio delete

I purchased mine from Cobra Automotive ( www.cobraautomotive.com ), and the fit was perfect.

body bolts, buy new or restore old?

Check out AMK (www.amkproducts.com). Purchasing their kits was one of the best decisions I made regarding my restoration. They have body kits that are nearly 100% concours, or other options such as stainless kits. Everything comes labeled and individually packaged, so it certainly makes...

need dimension of side (rocker stripes) for my 66

Here is a quick diagram I made...the stripes are consistent in width (they don't taper like the LeMans stripes). The 3/4" gap between the stripe and "G" also applies to the space after the "0" in "G.T. 350". The only thing I'm unsure about wrt '66 stripes is the distance from the top stripe...

need dimension of side (rocker stripes) for my 66

While the larger middle rocker stripe should measure 2-1/8" on a '65, it measures 1-5/8" on a '66 adhesive-backed stripe. The spacing is also different between '65s and '66s.

Oops....nevermind, forgot about the almighty NVSAAC site. :)

need dimension of side (rocker stripes) for my 66

Are you wanting '65 or '66 dimensions? Also, I assume you realize only '65s should be painted (stripes only, "GT350" are decals on all). I don't have my Branda catalog on me, and I see they don't have rocker dimensions on their site. If nobody chimes in with the style you are looking for...

    4 speed shifter shopping.

If you'd like a great-performing street shifter with a stock appearance, look into a Hurst Competition-Plus shifter from David Kee. He makes an adapter that allows an original handle to be fitted to the Hurst shifter. Price-wise they're on the high side, but I really like the feel of mine...

    16" Cobra/Early GT350 Steering Wheel

Hi, I bought a 16" wheel for my '65, and am hoping for some help on a few things... First off, was the boss the same for 15" and 16" wheels (I see both the 15" Moto Lita wheel and 16" wheel have the same bolt pattern)? Also, what screws should I use to attach the 16" wheel to the boss...

    Del-A-Lum bushings install

They should fit...I bought my Fastback with 5-leaf Global West rear leafs and Del-A-Lum bushings. I wanted different springs, so I just got a set of reverse-eye 4.5 leafs, and the Del-A-Lums fit right in.

    Boss 429 motor swap

A swap will require modifications to the car itself, specifically the shock towers. Boss 429s had unique shock towers to accommodate the wider engine. Wrt the engine's value, it depends how complete and original the engine is. Also, I know there were several variations of the semi-hemis...

    Headers

I just installed ceramic-coated Hooker Super Comps on my '65 Fastback. They bolted right up, but were touching in a few areas (driver and passenger shock towers and steering box). I was confused, as I have original '65 motor mounts, and the shock towers measured exactly what they should, and...

Am I crazy?? I went from `7" wheels to 14" wheels- pics inside-

I'm another one who thinks that larger wheels simply don't belong on these cars. Don't get me wrong, the Boyds are nice-looking wheels, but I like the 500s better on your car.

    69 fstbck exhaust

69Bradley, I guess I shouldn't have generalized and used the term "guys". :) Given this information, I'd definitely stay away from Borla XR-1s, for every girl I've had in my Cobra has absolutely hated the thing; I guess it's "obnoxious". Anyway, Magnaflow uses a higher grade than...

    69 fstbck exhaust

It's funny you say you want a more modern sound, because most of the late-model guys want an old-school sound to their Cobras. Personally, I think each is great in their own way. And in reality, it'll be impossible to get that close to a modular overhead cam sound. If you want to get a...

    Subframe Connectors

If you really want the strongest setup with the most ground clearance, and you don't mind cutting through your floor, consider having a custom set installed as I did on mine. I was also concerned about ground clearance (I'm running '65 Shelby-style side-exit exhaust), so that was one of the...

    Which Torque Wrench?!

I use a 250-lb Snap-On click-type. This covers pretty much everything suspension and engine-related. I forget the torque-specs of the main bearing caps on my 289 (it could've been around or over 150 ft*lbs), so if you do engine work maybe you'd be better off getting a bigger one. And I'm not...

Cobra Automotive R-Model Radiator/Oil Cooler Setup

Yeah, I've spoken with Scotty numerous times, and have actually ordered some of their suspension/brake/steering components for my Fastback. I couldn't be happier with the quality of everything; I just wanted to see if anyone had actual experience with their cooling systems before I order one...

    Mustang friendly fire extinguishers?

Even Haltron or Halotron? These similar, more environmentally-friendly agents should be alright. We're actually not supposed to use Halon (with the exception of aircraft use) in the US, either. Come to think of it, I'm also supposed to have catalytic converters on my '98 Cobra, too.
