Installing newer hood scoop on '99 GT Need Advise!!

Well, we just did it and it came out perfect. We just made a paper template and stuck the studs through it and then transferred it to the hood and taped it into place. Then we just drilled pilot holes through the holes in the template. The only holes that were off a little tiny bit were the...

Installing newer hood scoop on '99 GT Need Advise!!

It doesnt need to be painted because he got the exact same color scoop as his car. We thought it would be pretty easy to put it on but the scoop has a lot more mounting studs than I thought it would. I'm not scared to try it, I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and how they did it.

Installing newer hood scoop on '99 GT Need Advise!!

I need some help here. I have a friend of mine that has a '99 GT. He bought a hood scoop off Ebay that came from a newer GT. What is the best way to get one of these on there ?? I figured I'd have to take down the hood insulation, but what is the easiest way to line it up before I drill the...

Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

IAC= Idle air control. It is the thing that bolts to the front of your throttle body that has wires plug into it.

    PCV blown out??

Did you reuse the stock PCV hose ? I have a Typhoon intake and reused the stock hose and it would end up working its way out too because it was a little longer.

Still sounds like a vacuum leak to me. It will still idle steady but at a higher RPM.

Average Milage from a Stock Water Pump?

I got 99,890 miles off the stock one before it had to be replaced. The only reason why is because the gasket was leaking.

    a/c removed kinda

I know how the stock one is hooked up but you need the pully from the ac compressor to get the belt to work. That is the whole idea of moving the pump up to where the compessor is. I'm sure you can fab something together to get it to work but the easiest way is with the kit.

    a/c removed kinda

Whatever works. I have always just used the kit. But as long as you get the right angle for the tensioner to work with the belt I dont see why it wouldnt work.

    door panels/handle interior question

You need to pull off the arm rest and then just pull out and up at the same time. Take the cover off the inside of the mirrors too and it will be easier. You have to pull the panel up to get it off the door.

what are your thoughts on a '92 5.0L Cougar engine

    I thought the cougar/tbird 5.0s were non-HO. Maybe I am wrong though.

    door panels/handle interior question

The auto parts store usually has them. If not you can get them through 50resto or some place like that.

    a/c removed kinda

If you didnt bring the pump up there then the tensioner wouldnt work.

    door panels/handle interior question

You will need to pull the door panels. You can get a special tool to help you pull off the little plastic toothed things that hold it on but I have just used screwdrivers in the past to pry them off. There are little bars that run through the door and connect the lever to the latch mechanism...

    a/c removed kinda

You just need the special disconnect tools to unlock the spring clamps that hold all that stuff together. You can get them for cheap at the parts store. Just get a power steering pump relocation kit. It brings the pump up to where the ac compressor was. You will need to change your belt though.

    More Problems

'92s used the high torque mini starters. I dont really think that one is better than the other as long as it works. The problem you are having sounds like a charging problem more than anything. Prolly needs to have the alternator replaced. Pullys will work fine as long as everything else is...

    mustang autocross?

I know of lots of people that use them for auto cross. I'm sure they would be competitive if set up right. This is something that I would love to get into. I personally think that the auto cross would be more fun than drag racing.

    79-85 Mustangs

All the externals from any year FOX 5.0 will bolt on and all interchange with minimal work if any. As far as cam and heads go it is really just a matter of taste. I'm not sure what you are looking to do but I have just ported the stock heads and used comp cams before and been happy.
