Popping In Exhaust Around 5,500 RPM

Backing timing off did nothin either. How do I know if it's that valves floating?

Popping In Exhaust Around 5,500 RPM

It's not the throttle enhancer. Sounds kinda like you're stompin on a ball of bubble wrap when it happens kinda hard to explain. Not a backfire or anything like that.

Popping In Exhaust Around 5,500 RPM

I was kinda wondering that myself about floating valves.

Popping In Exhaust Around 5,500 RPM

99% sure it's popping. If it was pinging wouldn't it do it when it's under load at a low rpm when accelerating hard? It only does it around 5,500 rpm. I know what pinging is, but I've never heard it so I'm not completely sure.

Popping In Exhaust Around 5,500 RPM

I'm gettin popping in my exhaust and power loss in upper rpms's. I think if it was excess gas in the exhaust like I'm seeing most people say on here I wouldn't be gettin power loss. I bumped the fuel pressure up to around 42# with vac line off, new plugs, and newer MSD Super Conductor wires...

Car has slight popping on acceleration

Check your plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

    completely rebuilding rear end

Heat your bearings up to about 350/400 degrees in a griddle or oven and put on some welding gloves they should slide right off or on.

I guess stock tach could be off too.

    EXHAUST POPPING?

It only does it when I'm on the gas. I wouldn't think it's excess fuel because I'm only running 19# injectors with my set up and I don't think I'm gettin more gas than I need at 5,500 rpm's. I'm thinkin it might be in the ignition somewhere. Could be wrong though. It cuts power when it does it too.

    EXHAUST POPPING?

I had a 90 lx with way less mods than this that would pull 6,500 rpm's no problem. Gonna pull the cap and see if it and the rotor is worn think it might be jumpin spark kinda what it sounds like.

    EXHAUST POPPING?

I've noticed that after 5,500 rpm I get a popping sound out the exhaust is this detonation from runnin 87 octane, leaning out or am I floating the valves other than that car runs great.

    painting my car

My father in law has been a body man for years and sometimes for a cheap fix on cars he's sellin he'll use cans and it looks fine but you have to know what you're doin. And it does look a lot better than what I've seen from Macco.

Will a F-150 ring and pinion work in my stang?

If you're just using the gears it'll work.

no mufflers cause less throttle response??

You'll probably lose a little low end torque and gain more up top with no mufflers.

    AHHH.. HELP PLEASE Car BROKE

Wouldn't be driveshaft if it does it when it's parked. Easiest way I've found to check for fouled plugs is start your car for bout 10 seconds and check what header tube doesn't get hot.

    NO BELT TENSIONER??

I'm wrong the others did have a tensioner it was just completely maxed out makin the belt way too tight.

    NO BELT TENSIONER??

I've had two mustangs without any kind of tensioner they were just running belts that were way too tight had to be hard on pulley bearings. The one I have now has a clevice deal on it where you can adjust the tension by moving the alternator.
