    I have no hands-on experience with it yet, but the first red flags for me are the electronic thermostat and electric water pump. BMW actually gave up on electric water pumps for primary engine cooling after a decade of using them resulted in recalls and warranty extensions to settle lawsuits.

    When torquing the jackshaft, you'll have holders on the front camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket with two chains in place. It's not spinning.

    Ford uses TTY bolts everywhere that torque matters these days (as does BMW and others). It's not a matter of clamping force in this case, it's a matter of bolt stretch.

    IIRC, on the one I did in a driveway, I left the driveshaft connected, but had the transmission sitting on the floor jack with a board between the jack and transmission. The crossmember did have to come down.

    You more than likely broke a ground strap if everything you're saying here is accurate. Your car doesn't have a throttle cable, very few built after 2003 or so do.
