Another auto to 5 speed conversion question

see my signature... As for the pedals- are you going to use power brakes? If so then are you going to use an aftermaket booster or the real bendix or midland unit. These things are important for the swap. For example: if you use an aftermarket booster it wil not fit the JMC Hydralic kit and...

    t5's on ebay

I would not recomend at all getting a used T5 or a "rebuilt" T5 off of ebay. I bought a "rebuilt" one and the synchros were all bad and it was not shipped correctly so when it was left on my doorstep, it looked like it was rolled all the way from CA. There are so, so many different T5's made...

EFI swap questions on dip stick and steering

I used a late model timing cover for the dipstick - there is a sharp bend to the tube but it works fine. I used the late model p/s pump with a brass NPT fitting that converted the old line to work with the new style pump.

    painting Shelby Stripes

Just an FYI....Do you have a Tony Branda catalog? There is a diagram in the back of the catalog to show the EXACT measurements for the stripes.

    No Fuel

The drivetrain is complete (for now) and I am attempting to do the bodywork on my 67 myself in my garage. The problem I am having is that every weekend when I go to pull the car out of the garage I have to spray starter fluid in the carb to get it going. I can see through the clear fuel filter...

    V-belt pullies for 5.0

When I converted my 351 to serpentine I found an inexpensive underdrive pulley kit on ebay. You do not have to buy the kit do a seach for "underdrive 5.0" and a few will pull up. I have an extra Alt bracket if you want it. It needs a new tensioner.

    Compressor Question

That is the same Craftsman I own and I wish I would have bought a real compressor rather than a modified bike pump on top of a 33 gallon tank. The pump takes forever because it REALLY IS NOT A 6HP COMPRESSOR. There is a discalimer in the owners manual that it is a 1.5hp compressor.

    66 w/T5 vibration (bad)

It is not the driveshaft angle it is the fact that when you tightened the C4 tranny mount to the new crossmember the bolt bottoms out without torquing the two parts together enough. Add about two regular hardware washers and let me know if that works.

    66 w/T5 vibration (bad)

When I did my swap I had the EXACT same problem. After doing all the obvious, I added two thick washers to each bolt to the bottom of the transmission mount and the crossmember. That fixed the problem.

    Cable clutch or Hydraulic?

I tried everything to keep my clutch cable from heating up but it melted anyway. I tried the brackets and the wrap but my headers were too close and even after beating the ceramic to death there still was not enough clearance. If you are going to make the investment with nice headers get the...

For those who did a T5 swap

Go with the late model bellhousing, it is much easier to match everything up and you will have the advantage of using all the high performance late model clutch kits. It is actually a good thing to get the driveshaft shortened because they were able to true and balance it. Some people choose...

    Over heating question

It gets hotter after you turn the engine off because the engine is still hot and the water is not circulating so it steems off. Is your thermostat in backwards?

cost comparison and benefits of auto to manual tranny conversion

Did the conversion on the 67 from c4 to T5 and it was a GREAT upgrade. There are different paths to choose when chosing the tranny, and clutch cable/hydraulic kit. What kind of headers do you have and what kind of HP are you running?

1967 Exhaust tips - Whats available?

If you are using any pipe wider than 2 1\4, the stock dual tips will not work. I went with a rectangular style tip similar to the Mach 1. It looks good and there is no restriction.

    Suspension rebuilding tips?

I bought the same kit. Be very careful with the spring compressor and be sure the spring is fully seated on the spring perch before you take all the tension off the spring ( grab the spring and turm it clockwise). With the suspension out I also was able to clean up the years of grease and mud...

Swapping rears this weekend, any suggestions/things to look out for?

Be sure you get all the brass crush washers completly off before you start tugging on the pumpkin. Those washers can get really deep from being torqued down.

    hood clearance w/ air-gap intake

With an Airgap or Stealth intake you will have clearance issues. I had to use a HiPo aircleaner on my 351 with a stock hood and it kinda looks silly.

    Gt40 head info

I paid $699.00 for custom ceramic headers to fit the P heads and they still burn through my plug wires with all the heat wrap you can think of. Stay away from those heads unless you are putting them on a late model stang.

How much is too much roller rocker arm noise?

I thought I had an exhaust leak when I broke-in my 351. But you are right, they do sound like a loud sewing machine. I asked around and one mechanic asked me if I was sure I had the right pushrod length?? Once I tuned the carb for some reason I guess I got used to it.
