    Several questions about carb conversion

When I had a normal AOD, I made sure the throttle was adjusted correctly, then marked the max TV position on the trans. With the car off, I then hooked a wire from the carb linkage to near the P/S, so it had the carb at WOT. I then adjusted the TV cable till it only had about 1/8 inch before the...

    fuel log?

They are mostly used with carbs that are using a return style fuel system, very much like EFI cars do. Here is mine. A good explanation on the advantages to using one. http://www.centuryperformance.com/fuel.asp

    PICs of my exhaust

I have a O/R H pipe on mine with Dynomax Bullets. I had turn downs on them, pointed slightly to the side, but still stirred up to much dirt. I have always liked side exhaust, but car is very low, so I decided to run them through the sides to not loose any ground clearance. Here is how it turned...

    aod with cobra cpu?

There is NO function of an AOD that is controlled by the EEC. The shifts are controlled by the TV cable and the governor located in the tail shaft. The newer AODE is very similar to the 4R70W, and these both are controlled by the EEC.

    aod with cobra cpu?

An AOD doesn't care what computer the car has, since it is controled by the TV cable and engine RPMs only. The computer doe not care, since it is for a 5 speed. Now if it is an AODE, that is another story.

Anyone want to talk me out of going carbed?

I went through the same thing 3 years ago. I have made several changes since going carb, and no need for a chip reburn. I will be making more changes over the winter, and no need to try to get it tuned again. After a 1 min warm up, it is ready to do battle. I did a full return fuel system that...

    Best Fitting Long Tubes

The BBK's are very nice and install e3asy. It is a shame they did not make them to fit AOD cars also. It would of only took about 1 1/2 inches more space between the collectors. :(

    AOD Problems

I would guess your problem may be from some of the old fluid that was still in the converter, the cooler in the radiator, and lines Try completely draining the trans, and converter, and a fresh filter. The AOD used Mercon lll from the factory, but Ford put out a bullitin a few years ago to use...

went to the track and failed tech!

I went to our local strip the first time with the Bird, and asked the guy where to go for Tech? He asked me if I drove it or trailered it to the track? Told him I drove it. He said I just passed Tech. :)

Why are tracks so slick compared to the street?

If you want to see what the strip surface is like, do not go to one of the street car low cost events, or a test and tune night, since they do not prep the track nearly as well as a regular race night.

Hard Brake Pedal - Help Please

Sounds like you have power brakes, and the booster has a internal leak, that requires it to be replaced. It most likely runs a little rough, or changes rpms slightly when you press the break pedal. If so, the booster is shot.
