    Changing front struts

    you can mark the stock plates, put a mark on the plate, then one on the fender, after you finish everything you can reinstall them and match up with your marks. you probably will need air tool to get the struts off though, at least in my experience of doing struts (not on stangs though)

    correct me if i'm wrong, but i've never heard of a difference in the rear ends for the cobra vs a lx or gt. i'd love to hear different though if it were true.

    keep trying it, most likely its the u joints though. these units simply go bad. don't forget your car is a 87, the driveshaft on your car is older than you are. even if the mileage is not high, age wears parts out.

    i think stock 5.0 valvetrain is noisy as hell, or it gets that way with a lot of miles. if youhave good compression and good oil pressure i wouldnt worry about it. i guess just keep topping it off till it gets fixed.
