I'm w/ you; I got two black cars that I don't drive in the rain. Not because I don't want to get 'em wet but just because I hate washing cars and they look like s**t dirty.
It's a laziness thing with me.
That said, I'm gonna toss in some 3.73's on our 2008 5-speed and call it a day, mod-wise...
Yep, if it's a 'custom' tune loaded by someone like bama or brenspeed. As far as the tunes go, the SCT x-cal is just a transport device.
As far as other parameters, I think the x-3 has more extended datalogging/option changing.
I pondered it but after reading a bit, went with:
1. C&L Street w/ Brenspeed tunes combo ($661)
2. Bassani 46075 axle-bak ($541)
Install on these items is so easy even a Corvette owner could do it. :rlaugh:
I figr'd the advantages were that with the Brenspeed C&L/tune combo you get the...
Picked up a new GT 5-speed about a month ago;
1. Bassani axel-bak for sound ($541)
2. CHE K-Brace w/ torque limiters so not to miss 2-3 at WOT ($150)
3. C&L Intake w/ Brenspeed 93 Octane tune combo ($650)
4. 3.73 FRPP gears ($500) to come.
#3 made an incredible difference in driving...
If'n it was me, I'd remove the spoiler and fill the holes; then again, I'm a minimalist. Drove 400 miles to get a new 2008 w/ absolutely no options and spoiler-delete.
Also drove a car for 10 years w/ no radio or A/C. Yes, many people laugh at me. :rlaugh:
I have the C&L CAI and Brenspeed XCal 3; or at least I will have it when the ship it
6 of one, half dozen of the other...I'm guessing all the big players are pretty close.
Just picked up a new 2008 as well; not so sure about the Mustang world but I think, in general, shorty headers really aren't worth much. If you're willing to mess w/ the cats (and apparently you are by your interest in the SLP catted x) and want headers, might just wan to go w/ Long Tubes and...
From what I've read, to a degree perhaps; it seems as if the FRPP tune might be a bit more conservative than some of the other tuners.
I went w/ the C & L CAI/Brenspeed XCT-3 tune package which folks say *will* correct the lazy throttle. Been 2+ weeks since I ordered, supposed to ship 5/21 so...
2008 GT (5-speed, 3.31, 950 miles on the clock)

Bassani axle-bak
Oh, and TCS left on; i guess we can call that the 'ignorance' mod. :D
Good job; to tell you the truth, I prefer driving the Mustang to the Vette; it's a less harsh ride and more like a go-cart on steroids. The Vette can feel harsh and large at times. At lets not even get started on that humongous ass.
Got a track rental this weekend we're taking both cars to...
I'm on the verge of doing this; I see the 'standard' SCT handheld (did they send the version 3 or the older 2?) comes with 'canned' tunes from SCT on it as well. Were they still in there or were there only the 3 custom tunes avail to you?
Additionally, is the handheld the X3 (left, below) or...
Thanks for the responses, I kinda got the impression it was bamachips and brenspeed for the top tuners around.
I'm staying away from gears for now, only 'bolt ons', not 'bolt-ins'
Ok, more than a few...I'm just trying to avoid my general proclivity to doing the wrong thing first; usually the *expensive* wrong thing. :(
Just picked up a new 2008 Mustang GT 5-speed and after surfing around for a bit, like I need some insight to avoid past mistakes.
As far as background...
