Anyone Install A Hitch On Their Mustang?

With a receiver style hitch you really don't notice the hitch anyway except for when it is in use. For the SN195, Reese made a model called the Shadow hitch that had a very flat and hard to see drawbar. For the S197, the drawbar is the more typical 1 1/4" but I doubt it will stand out. As...

Does Ford want to go under?

"they are still safer than a car in a crash, mass usually wins" The safest vehicles are full sized sedans. SUVs have an advantage in a collision with another smaller vehicle but because SUVs are so much more likely to roll-over, they have a higher fatality rate than cars. People get ejected...

Does Ford want to go under?

The last Excursion came off the assembly line last July and sold approx. 19,000 in 2004 and 16,000 in 2005. GM sells over 100,000+ Suburban sized vehicles. The Excursion was too large and heavy to compete directly with the Suburban. An extended Expedition will be more competitive, is built on...

Anyone driven their GT in the snow yet?

I haven't driven a new Mustang, but historically Ford automatics have allowed for starting in 2nd gear. It might be described in your owner's manual. I can certainly start in 2nd gear in my FWD Escape, and often do when pulling my boat out of the water to avoid the front tires from slipping on...

    Trouble starting in cold weather.

slp352 - you probably flooded the engine when it died and that is why it was hard to start. Fuel injected engines can be hard to start when flooded. If it happens again, hold the accelerator pedal to the floor as you crank the motor. It should fire up in a couple of seconds.

    05 rwhp...anyone know?

How did you measure HP at the crank? A new SAE procedure went into effect this year and several Asian manufacturers have had to dial back their advertised HP. Toyota's 3 liter engine went from 220 to 190 hp.

    05 rwhp...anyone know?

"Just curious. But is it an American thing to think manufactures claimed BHP figures are at the wheels?? It's not adig, but I see it all the time on US forums, but never non-American forums." I'll get flamed for this, but you shouldn't be surprised. Half of adult Americans think the sun...

Anyone driven their GT in the snow yet?

You might find it useful to start in second gear from a standing start when conditions are slippery. Otherwise, I would recommend leaving it in D. Generally, you don't want to manually downshift when slowing down on slippery conditions, just use your brakes.

    November 2005 Mustang Sales Decrease

Gas in most of the U.S. is under $2 a gallon so it isn't the price of gas that is affecting sales. There might be some "hangover" effect from the high gas prices though as folks may not feel comfortable that prices will remain this low - look at SUV sales. The positive side of Mustang sales in...

    November 2005 Mustang Sales Decrease

"but Ford doesn't seem to be making the type of Mustang that is most in demand." I wonder if CAFE standards are playing a role in the product mix? If so, increased sales of the Fusion triplets should help.

    challenger dead?

According to the 12/5 Newsweek (arrived in the mail today) article about Chrysler, the Challenger will be introduced in '07. Its a bit vague but it can certainly be interpreted that way: "LaSorda intends to boost Chrysler's sales by 1 million cars by 2010. Phase 1: next year's new-model...

    challenger dead?

Whether or not the Challenger gets to market may depend on the price of gas over the next few years. How many can they sell if gas is $3.50 - 4.00 a gallon versus today's $2? I wouldn't want to be the product manager who has to make that call.

Ford won't ok a new engine in a 05 GT with

I guess you've never heard about the sludge problems with Toyota's 3 liter V6. I'm not claiming that Ford is better on reliability but all manufacturers occassionally lay a turd. In Toyota's case they blamed the owners until they got some bad PR and a lot of lawsuits.

New stangs still hard to find?

With winter rapidly approaching in the midwest and northeast most of the product should be going to the southern tier of states. I would expect places like FL and TX to be well stocked in the near future if not already.
