    Distributor crack, problem?

My new cap has a slight crack in it. I guess the motorcraft distributors are built to only accept their caps. In any case, is that going to be a big problem? The ford dealership around here charges $45 for a cap so I'd rather order a motorcraft online if possible.

    Diagnose this problem

Well taking the car back to the shop proved to be useless. Not only did they not even drive around in it, they didnt even pop the hood. Guy said that with those codes its either the MAF or the O2s. He said non-Ford O2s are normally bad and that my Pro-M MAF probably went bad too. Real precise...

    Diagnose this problem

Hey Joe, thanks for kicking in some info. I have a few basic questions for you though. My more mechanically inclined friend seems to think that it couldnt be a fuel pump issue seeing as how we were driving around, albeit crappily, it had to be getting power? Would a fuel issue coincide with a...

    Diagnose this problem

I didnt do the welding, took it to a shop to have it done. As I said, car seems to run fine at first but then idle gets real rough, ie to the point of dying and severe loss in power, I'm going to pull it up on some wheel stands now. What should I look for as far as lines having gotten messed up?

    Diagnose this problem

From the Key on engine OFF cycle I tripped code 11 From the table I have, that means everything's good. From the CM cycle I tripped 41,91, 96. Any ideas from that? I got a constant check engine light as soon as I hit about 184 degrees on the autometer WT gauge again. I had disconnected...

    Diagnose this problem

Ok, just got the car back fromt he SFC install and notice a wicked wierd problem. Car was running a bit sluggish, but right at 180 degrees on my AM gauge, my check engine light comes on and the car really hit a nose dive. Real loss of power, at one point it died on a left turn and I basically...

So I cracked my lower intake, WTF

I was planning on going with a TrickFlow Track Heat with my engine project. Would that really kill my performance if I threw it on now?

So I cracked my lower intake, WTF

So who knew that a gauge install could really f up your day. Torquing down the old sensor and fire up the car to see if its working, and I see a little leakage. So I take a closer look and what do you know, a hair line fracture is running from the sensor along the lower intake, WTF! I guess...

When did you split your block????

I was actually pondering this on my drive home from work tonite. Theoretically, wouldn't it have less to do with the hps you put out and more to do with the way you drive? If you're burying the tach constantly, that'd put more stress on your block than shifting at less rpms on a higher hps...

    Ford Ignition Switch Recall ..........

I called up the Ford dealership around here (on SR 50 JC) and they tried to feed me the BS about the car being too old, etc. I told the lady that answered the phone that it was my understanding that it didnt matter how old the car was. She said she'd check on it and get back to me. I got a 92...

    SVO Calipers

Ditto on that, MM calipers are the same as parts stores. I love MM and order all my stuff from them, but they basically told me flat out that they are Bendix calipers they have and they charge like $60 more than your random autopart store does so save your cash and get them local. If you...

    Gauge pod question

Hey all, have the 3 gauge A-pillar pod from summit. Question is, is that meant to mount over the stock A-pillar or do I remove it? It didn't seem as sturdy as the stock one so I have it mounted over atm, problem is that it doesnt seem to fit exactly right and thus if I look at it hard enough I...

Gauge Question: Is 18 gage really enough?

Isnt 18g wire like speaker wire? It's that skinny right? I need a good writeup on car electronics or something. HISSIN, how did you run your wires? I'm thinking it'd be best to go follow the plug wire from the distributor to the coil and then back through the firewall from there.
