    Matching numbers?

on my old boss302 there was a boss on the top of the block just behind the intake manifold, basically the same surface the intake sealed to... that was stamped with the last 5 digits (i think) of the VIN, so there was no question of "dates" it either matched the vin or it didn't. I'm not sure...

Is this a good head set-up?

I believe those are the same heads my friend used on a mild 351W build up with a serious cam that put his fox body drag car with a C4/trans brake into the high 10's. IF the heads are ready to go with a fresh valve job and have been checked out by a machine shop, I'd say $550 is quite a good...

Urgent Advice Needed. Drag '67 on rims?

a 4x4 with a winch could do wonders for pulling it out, if the landowner is not oposed to it, use a chainsaw to carefully clear trees that will be troublesome. If possible winch it up onto a trailer, then drive the trailer through the field and hopefully you can approach the wash out at such...

could i have my 351 w rebuilt for under 3,000

Just FYI, a local machine shop here in the Detroit metro area will do a stock rebuild of a long block for $1000 sbf/sbc. That's you drop it off and pick it up about a week later ready to go. Cleaned up painted, machine work done, new rings bearings, timing set, cam lifters, oil pump, gaskets...

    Lakewood Bell Housing Alignment

Well, I must have been the exception. I got a McLeod through Ford Motorsport when I was building my 5.0 project, and it didn't line up at all, I sent it back, and got the Lakewood, which checked out fine. Bore center, and face parallel.

Super bowl half time show sucks

I may be crazy, but I kind of like the color of the seahawks helmets... I think that color with silver stripes would look cool on a mustang. Anyone know how to get a color match of that?

    Detroit Area Mustang guys

SO.... How are you guys doing for motivation? It's all I can do to go to the shop some nights. With so much to do, I'm lost at where to start! On another note... who would be up for hitting some detroit area cruise spots from time to time? do you guys have a favorite hang out?

Super bowl half time show sucks

Yea, my high school garage band sounded as good. Mick is still an interesting dancer, but, man, Keith and the boys are getting more than a little sloppy. The guys that set up and tore down the stage and all deserve the real applause, that's a ton of work for a 12 second show!

    bleeding brakes.......

yup Start at the furthest wheel from the master cylinder... which is the passenger rear. If you have a helper, it makes it go a lot quicker. I use a piece of vacuum line, and a glass jar with some new fluid in it. Crack the bleeder screw with the line attached and sitting in the fluid...

Think of Selling 1969 Mach 1

I've not seen small block mach1 bring that kind of money, if it was a 428 drag pack car, sure.

    393 PISTON

You might also check with the guys at DSS, that's where I got my rods and pistons, since I have twisted wedge heads, my pistons have to be fly cut appropriately for the TW head valve positions.

One of my Heros has passed away

I met Dyno Don at the Ford 100 celebration in Dearborn. I was surprised to hear he had Alzhiemers, it must have come on quick as he seemed pretty sharp just a few years ago. I'm glad I got his autograph when I did!

Post up your burn out pictures

That's the beauty of having a ford 9"... if you're going for a road trip, drop in the 2.75... if you're off to the track, drop in the 3.9, or 4.1.... it takes, what, 45 minutes to swap? got to love it.

Just wanted to say HI! My new project attached.

Please don't subject yourself to the endless loop of what if's! You've got this car, make the best of it. Once you're done with it you can always decide to trade for another year car, but you'll have the experience, lessons learned, and satisfaction of a major project behind you. Don't waver...

    SpeedTV Petition

I couldn't agree more. I've considered dropping the "premium" package on my cable, save some $$ since I'm not seeing as much of the good stuff anymore....might help me to motivate off the couch and into the shop more too! Winter in the midwest is rough!

    valve spring and camshaft question

You could always call the edlebrock tech line, or look up on the edlebrock website to be sure. I'm pretty sure my twisted wedge heads had max lift called out in the spec sheet.

    Help me pick a cam!

It is specifically for cases like this that I invested in the desktop dyno computer program. Like any other program, the output is dependant on the input... however, if you have accurate information on your components you can get within a few % of the real world dyno numbers using the...

    Coolest blue engine paint?

por15 engine paint ROCKS! Looks museum quality, and a small can goes a LONG way! I say POR15 on the outside, Glyptal on the inside. That's how I will do all mine from here on out. Even with a cheap brush, as well as the POR flows, it looks EXCELLENT when complete.
