How can I safely jack up the engine and replace motor mounts without a lift?

Wooden block under the oil pan works fine. Make sure both mounts are loose first or you won't be able to get it jacked high enough to get them out, also rock the motor a little to one side while doing the mount on the oposite side.

Can too much cam hurt the car...?

Well so far the fuel system would look to be a problem. Up the pump and get the adjustable FPR on, but don't expect this is the whole problem. FP should likely be near stock given the 24LB and a good 255 pump. Might check your TPS voltage a WOT, make sure it's not doing sometning weird like...

Anyone know who sells Comp Polymer Valve Covers?

I believe Comp has discontinued them all together. I don't know if there were problems with these parts or not enough demand, but Comp has had several of thier "composite" parts in the discount/discontinued section of there site. If you still want a pair I would go to the source, Comp has an...

Can too much cam hurt the car...?

Yes, you can over-cam a motor and/or car. The cam needs to be right for the airflow potential and car weight/gears. BUT, the cam your speaking of is not all that big for what you have. A little big, but not so much as to cause serious power loss. Any power lost by this cam should be down low...

Why cant I shift at high rpm's?

You have one or more of these problems: Bad Synchros, Clutch not fuly dis-engaging, and/or bad pilot bearing. Yes, there are anomalies with high RPM and diaphram clutches, but these are typicaly above 7000 RPM.

    Oil pan leak?

Yep, but it's a bit more than a "Just" type repair, about the same degree of work as a pan gasket, a bit easier, but not much. Either way I would not let this get in the way of the purchase, but It would be good cause to look a little deaper at it before forking over the cash.

Need help with Charcoal Canister please.

Best way I know to check fuel pump is with a fuel pressure gauge, but if you don't have one, you can disconnect the fuel line at the filter, then turn the ignition switch to the on position (do not start). Fuel should squirt out like a garden hose for a second or two (pump will only run for one...

Need help with Charcoal Canister please.

Well it's a stretch to think this was the last nail in the coffin for your pump, but I have seen weirder things happen... and many of them were an untimely demise of a fuel pump. Nothing like replacing a (know) bad TFI and having the engine not run afterwards, only to find the fuel pump gave...

    Engine torn down-crank bearing color

Copper showing through at those miles is typical- lucky it's not down tho the base (steel) material. The crank should be polished B4 you re-assemble anyway, but a re-grind and line honing the mains would be best. As they were worn on one side only, this is a sure sign of mis-aligned mains, again...

Need help with Charcoal Canister please.

Leaving the line open creates a large vacuume leak and this of course causes bucking, it's a lot of un-metered air. The problem you are having sounds like a lean condition, are you sure there isn't a vacuume leak? Posible the plug/cap you use on this is leaking? Or, maybe you had something else...

Need help with Charcoal Canister please.

Look somewhere else for the source of that problem (fuel pump or filter?), because removing the charcoal canister is not the cause. This is only purged at startup, then the purge solenoid is closed all other times. BTW, If your leaving the vent hose on, I would add a fuel filter to it just to...

    Oil pan leak?

Yes you will have to lift the motor to change the gasket. I would replace with a stock 1 piece unit- they work the best. Know, are you sure it's the pan gasket thats leaking and not the rear main? Usualy the pan gaskets hold up very well, but rear mains go frequently in these cars.

    Blown head gasket, Cause?

Looks like a combination of boost and poor clamping. Check the head for warpage, and when you replace the gasket I would suggest using head studs instead of bolts. Torque the intake side of the head down 10-15Ft Lb higher than the rest as the intake bolts pull up on the head.

    Harmonic Balancer bolt removal

No it is not a reverse thread. The crow bar method should work great, if you have a long enough bar to butt up against the engine stand base. I have done more or less the same thing to tighten the damper on.

Anyone see a 94-98 rearend for sale in NW

If your looking to do the 5 lug/disk brake swap cheap, buy a V6 rear complete and strip the axles and brakes, then take all your parts and put them back on the V6 housing to sell in the paper or wherever (7.5" 4 lug open $50). Net cost will usualy be $150 or less. ($150-$200 is typical for a V6...

Where should my timing be set...

Yeh HISSIN50, I agree, I also like to know where I end up too. Another reason to know where you end up is also a good reason why there are no hard and fast numbers. The harmonic damper inertia ring (outer ring) may have moved (spun). My brother had an old 302 that would never run past 0...

Considering Long Tube headers...what brands? Need opinion...

Can't speak for BBK, but Bassani's are great, if you have the $$. Kooks are good for HP, but fit poorly and built so, so. I was planning on BBK for my 351, but now you got me scared about the changes in material. I know two peolpe and an installer who swear by Bassani, and I can see why. I...

Where should my timing be set...

This is a loaded question, you know. It all depends on the engine, quality/grade of fuel, and driving style/habbits. Typicaly with high grade 91 you can get at least 12, sometimes up to 15. With good 93 you may have little problem with 15 or never be able to run past 12. My suggestion it...

    trans for 347?

Stock T5 should hold up if you don't abuse it (speed shift, dump the clutch at 4000+ RPM or run slicks), assuming it is in good condition to begin with of course. If you willing to spent the money, a Tremec TKO would be more than enough trany from the way you describe the intended use. Now...

Rocker arms loose on new motor?

Dumb question but: Are the rockers and pushrods stock parts or are they replacements like roller rockers and aftermarket pushrods?
