Thanks! I have. Still like the clean look of the LX lenses.

Everything is now installed but the door moldings. And I finally took it out for a spin Tuesday evening and yesterday. No funny smells or noises. Engine ran great, transmission shifted well and I have a quiet input shaft again. Total success. Did a little cleaning and took some pictures in...

Yep. Took about 3 hrs and it was carefully fit before paint too.

They’re great wheels. Definitely hard to find beat for LX trim. I just feel like they don’t work well in GT/Cobra trim. Also, I want darker wheels to play off this new paint color. I have some options in mind, but that’s three to four weeks from now.

Front bumper and headlights are in. Washed the rims inside and out too. The weather wouldn’t allow installing the cobra kit. The adhesion promoter instructions said temps need to be above 70. The high was 55 yesterday. In the end that didn’t really matter. The bumper and headlights...

I built an enclosure that fits the garage door opening and holds three 20” fans. The door then closes on top. Then the side windows are open (and filtered) as a source of fresh air. The fans do a pretty decent job of pulling the overspray out. I also placed filters in front of the...

With that the hood is back on the car. Now all thats left is final assembly. Hopefully, I’ll be taking it out for a cruise on Sunday.

Haven’t posted any updates due to a significant setback. More on that later. In preparation of final assembly, I wanted to wet sand and polish the fenders and hood. They had quite a few dirt inclusions and I’d rather correct them prior to, what is essentially, permanently sticking the cobra...

I never said or implied that I was an expert welder. I’m far from it. He wanted a recommendation. And that’s what I gave. The facts are the facts, the $550 dollar Harbor Freight welder (120 or 240V) is leaps and bounds better than the $800 dollar entry level Millermatic 140 (120V). Throw in...

Mustang5l5's Progress Thread - Archived Progress thread '08-'20.

I bought this one last year when my Miller 140 bit the dust. https://www.harborfreight.com/mig-170-professional-welder-with-120240-volt-input-64805.html Haven’t use flux core or had it on 240 yet. This welds thinner sheet metal and exhaust tubing way better than the Miller. In fact, welding...

Yep. That’s it. The camera on my phone doesn’t really do the the color justice. If you’ve seen one at your dealership, you know how it looks in person.

Rear bumper and taillights on are. Man this thing is coming together! Did I mention I love this color! About to finish clear on the front bumper and the side skirts. I litterally only have one item to paint, the door moldings.

Thanks. I’m happy with them. They’re not perfect. Wasn’t able to keep the litttle character line that runs across the top. But as stated before, much better than the alternatives. Applied a thin coat of bumper repair filler. Sanded that. Then multiple coats of high build primer. Then a final...

Way back I had eibach pros. The stance they gave looked great. Ride was a little bumpy but I still had the factory struts/shocks. BTW, I think Maximun’s spring line is H&R.

I feel your pain. Without a doubt, that was the most frustrating job I’ve done. Test fit booster, won’t clear the upper intake. Remove intake. Test fit again, wont clear valve cover. Remove valve cover, dent strut tower, won’t fit. Slot holes in firewall, wont fit , slot some more, and on and on.

They have a good spring product line and they know their foxbody suspensions. They may try to sell you some of their other products. But theylll give you a good recommendation on lower springs.

Getting closer to the finish line! The spoiler, quarter windows and fenders are on. Really happy with how the quarter windows look. Have about $100 in material and a weeks worth of work in them. Much better than $450 windows from LMR that don’t have the mustang lettering...

Ditto on the car looking good! Are you looking for a spring kit or just the rears? I’d give maximum morotorsports a call and see what they say. They have some pretty knowledgeable techs that will point you in the right direction.
