Thanks 95! Finished assemblying the engine yesterday. Also primed it since it hasn’t run in about 7 years. Got pressure right away and oil to the rockets after a few seconds. Then dropped the engine back in. Really had to work to line up the converter studs. Slipped right together after...

Got the cam installed and set the valves. That’s when I ran into the eccentric and timing cover issues. The long dowel pin that came with trick flow cam was not long enough to engage the eccentric. Then the 67 timing cover didn’t have bosses for the locating dowels. Long story short, I...

What fun this has been. Parts from these two engine are not as interchangable as I read online. Issues with fuel pump eccentrics, timing covers, and dipsticks has had me pulling my hair out. At any rate, time for the updates. This was Sunday’s progress: Tore the 5.0 down and pulled the...

What’s in there now is pretty much a boat anchor. It’s a Frankenstein 302. 68 block, smog era 74 heads. Burns a lot of oil. I figured I’d spice it up a little with the my old 5.0. AFR heads, going to install a nice cam, and upgrade the 4 bbl intake. Should run and sound good.

Got off to a good start yesterday. Discovered the source of the sloppy steering. The power steering control valve was loose where it bolted to the frame! The nut had backed off quite a bit. That could have been disastrous! Then installed a new fuel pump, rebuilt the carb and took it for a...

Quick room update, then the fun and possibly stupid news. Drywall is finished and painted. Window sills and trim finished too. Next up is crown molding, then flooring. After that baseboard and door trim and I’m done! Now for my latest last minute irrational decision. If you’ve followed...

Gauges moved, rear seats now match the front

Looks good. Love the Recaro’s. Wish I could find a pair for a decent price.

Decided to hire out drywall. I know if I installed it, it would require way too much sanding. This is an older pic. They’re actually coming today and should be finished. After that, new sills and casings for the windows. Then paint, flooring, trim and I’m done! Then I can finally paint...

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this thread. I’m just ready to be finished with this room work. So here’s some room progress, then an exhaust update. Since I removed the wood paneling in the bathroom, I decided to make a few plumbing changes while the wall was open. This wall backs...

I’ll admit, I was looking for a little more aggressive sound and maybe a little more power. The mufflers that we’re on it are old flowmaster three chamber delta flows. They produced a sound that was a little flat and boring. I just grew tired of that sound. All the youtube vids of cobras with...

Car is officially back together! Took it for a quick drive. The good, water temp stayed right on the thermostat the whole time, even with the AC blasting. The bad, the Borla Stingers are hideously loud. So loud that they’re not going to work. Oh well. I’ll figure that out later. Time for...

Finished wiring and installing the new pillar gauges. Top one is wideband and the bottom one is a multi-gauge. Plugs into the obd2 port and will display almost all of the ECU parameters. I’ve got it set to show fuel rail pressure, charge air temp, battery voltage, and I’ve run two analog...

Tach dimmer light source on my 89 GT?

I just looked it up. It should be the light blue wire with a red stripe coming off the dimmer.

I knew I was gonna get that question and...I didnt take note of the car I pulled them off. I was too damn hot after walking through the yard for an hour. I do know it was a Nissan. I can see if there’s a part number on them?

Since I’m trying to ensure this thing won’t over heat again. I thought, what if I could add air deflectors between the bumper and core support that the newer cars have. A little more quality time at the local pick and pull...and sweet success! I’ve barely trimmed these and they are damn...

Happy 4th everyone! A little background before the updates. This setup has always suffered from considerable powerloss in hot weather. Some of it is probably from the pulleyed heaton. But I think most of it was the marginal factory cooling system. After it ran so hot on me during traffic at...
