    C4 no reverse

No problem, I get my help and encouragement here too :) The 5 hours was with the transmission out, it took me about 4 additional hours for pulling it and re-installing it. The biggest factor is the space your working in, I did it in a nice heated garage with huge stands that could let me...

    C4 no reverse

60,000 doesn't sound like a lot for a C4 (they're pretty dependable) mine started going bad at 85,000 which I thought was too soon but every tranny is different. I went through three on a Aerostar before it had a 100,000 miles but I've heard I was luck I only went through 3! :D My rebuild...

    C4 no reverse

Yeah, a transmission tester is really something I wouldn't buy (I just got mine in a box of junk at an auction). Should be able to find a place to rent or borrow it. I doubt that you have a problem with the front pump as you don't indicate any problem with the forward gears. My hunch is worn...

    C4 no reverse

When you did the service what condition was the fluid/filter in? Was there a coating of a sticky grey/black film and/or was there any chunks or flakes in the pan? I think a little discoloration/film is normal but sludge and or flakes is not. I noticed a lot of this in mine, the small flakes...

    c4 question...

Ahh yes, I should have remembered that  I've only been working on console shifted cars lately. Thanks :hail2:

    c4 question...

Other way around :) Linkage (arm) pushed all the way back towards tail of transmission is park.

    C4 no reverse

If the level is ok, I suggest borrowing a pressure tester to help diagnosing problems. The C4 has a test port near the bellhousing just in front of the neutral safety switch (1/8" pipe fitting) Proper specs for a C4 are (transmission warm and engine idling): Neutral: 50 to 90 psi...

What additive do I need when installing a traction loc?

You can also purchase the Ford friction modifier to add to whatever gear oil you use. Comes in a small bottle and is available from Ford directly or most of those "drive in" lube shops will have it. Just hold your nose when you use it.....the most evil smelling substance on earth!

Aftermarket Fiberglass Parts For The Ii?

    351C heads on a 289...How to.

Me too, would love to use the Aussies, just haven't found any at any junkyards :D I wonder what shipping from down under would be? If you get around to doing it, don't follow the instructions in the back of the Ford Motorsports catalogs (Ford Racing now) I followed their measurement's for...

I decided on the exhaust, Whatdya all think.

 I guess "the project" wont be subtle :D "40 inch louvred glass-packs with 2 1/2" mandrel inlets. Just hope the neighborhood dogs don't pee on them when they're hot! :p

    Mustang + Ranger = 5 lugs!

Here's a site with some good info on conversions that I stumbled across: http://www.enjenjo.com/9inch.html#8inch Click on the "Mustang II..." on the top of the page, also has good info on those looking for a 9" Francis

Easy way to check rear ratio?

Yeah, they sure seem rare enough. I figured up here in "the land of ice and snow" :canflag: they would be common. Three years looking in the yards and not a one :( BTW: The Ford term for them was "trac-lok" or "traction lock"... "posi" is a GM term (just some useless trivia)

    351C heads on a 289...How to.

The problem is without the adapter plates the ports on the intake are too low and you can't get a seal around the top edges as there is no gasket space left. ( at least on a 289/302 block, the 351W may be dfferent ) I didn't go fancy with the spacers so they're crude but should work...

    351C heads on a 289...How to.

Cheapo "Clevor" in progress based on Hot Rod "Bogus Boss" article. Free 351 heads, home-made intake adaptors, Ebay valve covers: Budget so far..~$75 and a lot of spare time. Won't be a screamer as they are open chamber heads, aftermarket or Aussie would be MUCH better but I figure...

    Rostisserie Restoration

Chris, Sounds like it should work with plenty to spare. The Mustang II is around 5'9" wide and about 50" tall. Since the rotisserie is going to be mounted in the middle (from drivers to passenger side), you should clear the ground with the car tilted sideways by about 23", flipped upside...

BODY COUNT!!!!! Who lives out west?

I just wish one of my IIs would be show worthy by then (not likely :( ) I expect there will be some real beautys there including one that was at Montana this year with a Boss 302 under the hood :nice: I'll be there as one of the volunteers (look for the guy with the drool :p) Francis

Easy way to check rear ratio?

A rough way is counting the number of driveshaft rotations for every rotation of rear wheel but it's sometimes tough to distinguish a 2.79 from a 3:00. Best way is to mark both with chalk to keep track. Only exact way I know is to count teeth on the ring and pinion

BODY COUNT!!!!! Who lives out west?

:nice: Seems to be more and more IIs showing up around here :) We're going to have to organize a Alberta cruise as a warm up to the IIs of Stangnet, Western Division Rally (and swap meet :D)

    C4 Question..what did I miss?

Thanks! :nice: Exactly the same specs Tim emailed me last night. :) Found the tester hanging in my Dad's garden shed today (exactly where I left it 19 years ago! :p ) Hopefully get a chance to check out the car within the next day or two. Francis BTW, should I stick with the deeper...
