OK Jump in Give ME Your 2 cents

Well I just finished swapping my suspension out, but I am by no means an expert, especially with a 69 mach, but here goes. The more leafs you have on your rear suspension the stiffer the ride is going to be and thus the better it will handle. Standard eye leafs will keep the ride stock height...

    Anyone using gear drive?

I am not using one, but looked into it pretty well as I was planning on getting one. I learned that for the most part the floating gears (the cheaper ones) are unreliable and break often. The fixed ones from milodon and others ($$$) are great, but expensive and require machining. As far as...

    New to the Board

    1. I THINK you can tell those specifics about your engine through the casting number on the block found behind the starter. How to decode anything after the first four digits of the number, I do not know. 2. Hard to tell how deep the rust goes on the rest of the floorboard, but...

I know it's not a good idea to run synth oil in a high mileage motor, but???????

Same as squeeeg, switched to 15w-50 fully syn after using only conventional and had no leaks...cept the valve covers.

    Shims

Got the uppers off and the coils out (that was fun) and am now in the process of drilling for the Shelby drop. The instructions say to remove about an even thickness of 1/8" to 1/4" worth of shims to compensate for the added positive camber. I noticed my front tires are definately wearing more...

    Upper A-Arm Removal

Well I'm just about done getting the suspension out, rear came with no problems. I have the front shock out and the spring compressed, but now I'm stuck trying to get the upper arm out. There is very little clearance between the bolt and the headers in the engine bay and I'm havin quite a bit...

Where do I start for 66 fastback

Well as everyone else said and to save the headaches, making it reliable should be goal #1. Even if it's only driven once a week, you'll be real disappointed when it cranks and coughs and doesn't start up or leaves you stranded. Reliability/Safety: Tires, starter, air filter, coil, plug...

    16 yr old newbie

Welcome to Stangnet! Car doesn't look too bad at all, worst part looks to be the interior and judging by all the parts you have lying around it won't be that way for long! :D

    Will this cam work??

Anything flat tappet made for a 289/302 should fit fine. I have one about that size in and it works fine. I did notice a little drop in gas milage, but I later canceled it out with a new ignition and k&n and it went back up around where it was before the cam.

    I FINALLY BOUGHT ONE!

Nice! Classics are more fun :D I'm not the greatest troubleshooter, so I won't even go offering you a wrong opinion on the idle problem heh. I'd definately rewire the car before it's all fixed up. I was wishin I did for about six months while I had a powerleak I could not find for the...

    replace window regulator?

All as said above. The smaller the hands you have the easier it will be. Hardest part for me was adjusting the damn window once I had it all set up and in place.

    the suspension is in

Far as I know the 5 leaf is just stiffer than the 4, I'm pretty sure ride height is determined by the location of the eye: standard, stock; mid, lower 1"; reverse, lower 1.5" .
