    Did you get the alignment tool? Its almost necessary sometimes. Also, it helps to have someone move the tailshaft with the trans in gear to help line up the splines. Double check the angle you are trying to install the trans, too.

    also, dont adjust the cable too tight, to where it is always part engaged. that will wear out the throwout bearing and engine thrust bearing.

    Yeah that's what I'm saying. There is alreaady enough to deal with doing just a motor swap. If it was me, I would get the car running the existing way with the new engine, then tackle a maf or harness swap after you got it right.
