    I'd say that gears are the very best bang for the buck you can get. You may also want an aluminum drive shaft at the same time. HUGE difference in performance.

    Mods for quicker throttle response?

    I recommend gears and aluminum driveshaft for the most noticeable seat of the pants off the line acceleration. No other mods outside of a blower will be as noticeable. Without gears, most other mods are almost worthless.

    I believe 1998 was a hybrid year between return & returnless. The parts of the fuel system may be unique that year.

    spark plug gap for nitrous?

    I've heard people running a .035 gap with the 4.6L & nitrous. I also believe they go to a colder plug. I don't think you'll notice much of a drop off in regular driving.

    It does sound like an ignition system problem to me also. Check or change the plugs. Make sure they are properly torqued to spec which is 13 ft. lbs. Do not remove any plugs without first blowing out the spark plug well with air.

    BWmustang03GT: I don't know about BBK but I can vouch for the MagnaFlow catted X. I've had mine since early 2003. When New York had very strict tail sniffing emissions testing, it easily passed. Easy fit, up pretty high, and It sounds good too.

    severe misfire during acceleration

    I'm guessing you have coil-on-plugs. If not, replace the spark plug wires. Several things could be wrong. Consider taking the car for a custom tune. They can tell you a LOT about what's going on and have your new engine working at peak performance.

    Need Help

    Since it turns over but doesn't start, one of 2 things is missing. The spark or the fuel. Since the spark is present, then the fuel is an issue. I'm not sure how to check it though. Worse case you may need it towed to a mechanic who can look at the fuel pressure. Make sure your TB is not stuck.
