    97 gt missfire problem

schoffs, whenever I've had a miss due to plugs/wires it seems to only happen under load, at higher rpms. If you take it real easy, you don't hear it. When you nail it, that's when the problem seems to occur. Just my 2 cents. Off topic: When are we supposed to replace the coil packs on...

    Horsepower Guess

Since it's an auto, I'd guess right now about 235/265. Let us know what we win!

    97 gt missfire problem

Probably 90% of misfires are spark plug & wires related. I had some top of the line Rousch wire one time that only lasted 2 years! If you can do your own plugs, buy a new set, check the gap & use a torque wrench to set them. If that doesn't fix it, change out the wires.

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

Oh, BTW: With 7 of 8 brandy new Autolite 764s gapped at .055, I let the car "rip" so to speak for about 1/8 a mile last night. No miss-fires at all. The car threw me back in the seat and chirped the gears like it was brand new! I already have over 104k on it. I was very happy. :)

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

I've been changing spark plugs since about 1977 and this is the 1st time I rounded one off. I used a 12 point socket. It was very tight and as soon as I went into "power mode"...wizzzzz. Stripped. :( I now have a good 6 point spark plug socket so I hope this won't happen again. (I did not put...

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

Thank you gents very much. I ordered the SnapOn tool as opposed to the "Seen on TV." That one I'm just not totally convinced it will work. Thankfully I was able to order a single SnapOn socket for under $30 and not the whole set.

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

Hey Mike, it's the plug "socket grips" that rounded off. Thankfully not the threads in the head. I'm interested in that Snap On deep turbo socket if you have any info on it. BTW: I took your advice and purchased an inch pound torque wrench and set it to 156 in. lbs (13 foot lbs.) to set the...

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

Most, if not all spark plug sockets have that rubber insert to hold the plug for removal.

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

I only stripped the plug itself this time. I had a plug/thread blow out 2 years ago and the mechanic when he did the repair put in new plugs at that time. After going through the thread here on Stangnet on spark plug blow outs, I bought a torque wrench and carefully replaced 7 of the 8 plugs...

Solved: Stripped Spark Plug - what to do?

I stripped the front right plug today while swapping them. A mechanic who did the last plug change probably over tightened it. I did it using a 12 point socket. I immediately stopped trying to take it out. Went to Pep Boys and bought a 6 point socket. Now that one just spins on the plug! What...

    Help me identify this Mustang

Hummm. I know it said the word "Cobra" on it. The Shelby one has over 600 HP but I have no idea what size the engine is and the Ebay listing doesn't say. The Roush doesn't indicate Cobra at all.

    Help me identify this Mustang

Yesterday morning I saw a Mustang that I had not been aware even existed. It was the newest body style, red, and said "427" and "Cobra" on it. Could only see it for a minute before they turned. Anyone have a linky to this car? Is it just a kit or an SVT? Thanks!

anyone with magnaflows, need your help

Oddly, I've had my Magnaflow with Magnaflow X w/cats for 6 years and have zero complaints. It's never loud unless I jump on it or it's in a parking garage. :D It doesn't sound at all like a "kid's car" so I am happy. I never had a noticable drone like I did on my previous Mustang with Flowmasters.

    Question about our idiot lights

One of my idiot lights come on when I start the car now in the morning. It sort of looks like a bad drawing of a radiator with an X in the center. Is this supposed to indicate low coolant level? I checked it and it seemed perfect. Anyone know for sure what this light is for? It goes off...

    mustang hydroboost?

See my thread on power steering below. If you have a Mustang near the age of my car, you may be in trouble if you need a new hose/line. They have been discontinued. It should not be leaking at all.
