Any hidden trick when installing new Fuel Pump?

Man, I'm really late to this post, but thought I'd share that one of my worst/first mechanic experiences in my life was replacing the fuel pump on my '74 V6 Mustang II right before work ... ... ... ...

So, who's working on what these days?

wow, nice to see you around Frank, I figured you were out of the scene years ago... My latest fad has been facebook, which has a small II following, but already have Ms. Schnell on my friends there... I really can't believe how long it's been since I've driven a II on the street to...

So, who's working on what these days?

I'm getting a bit further along on the '78 coupe... http://www.melangdesign.com/photos/78coupe/pipes2.JPG Currently sidetracked with 50 sheets of sheetrock, a drywall lift, and a 50X24 garage ceiling to attach it all to...at a pace of about 1 sheet/day since I have to clear a spot on the...

    2.3 Turbo

I daily drove a '78 T-Top for a couple years with a 2.3L Turbo in it... Turbo Swap I have a current version in a '78 coupe, but it looked like this: http://www.a351must2.atfreeweb.com/2300coupe-002.jpg 5 years ago and hasn't progressed a lot. Looks more like this now...

    70's Cars Make Me Happy!

I have to see my neighbor's '72 Z28 every time the sun is out ... but this was the last one I saw that looks similar to your employee's ... watching my tail lights, then making a bunch of excuses for why it ran so slow afterwards (he talked it up pretty good before that run).

    Mustang Roundup in Bellevue, WA

All I can say is exactly the same thing I said last year ... crap, already. If I took the rest of the week off work I "might" be able to have the T-Top to a minimally embarrassing state. The Mach 1 is way off show worthy and the black one is still collecting parts an dust in the garage. If I...

    Oil Cooler-er??

Oh, and for panicking about 210 degrees, just think, my '96 Eclipse doesn't even turn a cooling fan on until 210 and I've seen it get to 230 when running it HARD. It's also been to 270 when the thermostat stuck shut once, and again when one of the temp wires broke and the fans didn't turn on...

    Oil Cooler-er??

Oh yeah, the 351W gets 15W50 synthetic as well. 4-row radiator and an A/C big block fan and it still runs hot at anything less than 10mph. Cools right down when it's moving. It's a .060" overbored block as well, I'll never do that again when having a block machined since I'm quite sure that's...

    Oil Cooler-er??

Adding a large oil cooler (http://www.a351must2.atfreeweb.com/78TTop/temp1/image001a.jpg the thing with big orange headers) for my 351W didn't change water temperature, but my oil pressure no longer drops below 40psi when the engine gets hot.

ET 1/4 mile guess, What do ya think?

from experience with a 310hp@wheels 351W ... 13.6 @ 105.9 with 245/45-17 street tires. My 351W isn't too far off from yours with the exception of my cam being a bit less lift, but around the same advertised duration (not sure what yours is at .050), 11:1 compression, and a Holley 750 carb...

    pinto swap headers 351

Found some pics... you'll notice there's a lot more welds on the headers than they originally had from Hooker, as well as some flanges instead of slip joints. Ground Clearance: http://www.a351must2.atfreeweb.com/78TTop/temp1/image004.jpg...

    pinto swap headers 351

Mine fit "Ok"without modification ('74 w/ manual brakes and automatic)... It wasn't until I installed them in my '78 with power brakes and a stick shift that I had to have them cut up and put back together in a fashion that fit. But, yes, they don't fit with power brakes.

    stock seats?

6'1" ... I have 83 T-Bird TC seats in my 78 and 85' T-Bird TC seats in my Mach 1 and Coupe. All 3 have adjustable lumbar supports. I use the height adjustable Mustang II rails and find them to be quite comfy for me. Guess it's gonna differ depending on the person, and the only seats I have...

Hats off to the Founding Old Fogies

Who was the 4th person that was there then Lance? I guess it must not have been Dano... 10 years is beyond my capability of remembering things, especially names. and, yes, I realize the join date appears on the post AFTER you've submitted the post. Mitsubishi Eclipse was my "dream" car...

Hats off to the Founding Old Fogies

I don't remember when I joined...or even how far back I joined the .org mailing list. btw...II's are all in the garage or under car covers and I'm daily driving a 2005 GT now, which is making it hard to even justify having the 351W II anymore. I do seem to remember meeting up with George...

    95 Mustang V6 in a II

Wish I could find the pictures at work... friend has a '74 Capri with a SOHC 4.0L out of a '97 Explorer HO. Basically the same 4.0L that's in the 2005+ V6 Mustangs. 210HP, loves to rev, excellent gas mileage...sticks out of the hood by about 2".

    Steering wheel extenders? Any ideas?

6' 1" and fit fine, but my wife can't get the go pedal to the floor with her boobs squished against the steering wheel. The 2005 is a considerable improvement over the '96 Eclipse I used to drive ... I never did fit in there right, just got used to having my knees in the dash I guess.

    New Short Block Time!

The only thing I've kicked myself about my 351W was accepting a .060" overbore block from the rebuilder. I've spent more time/money troubleshooting cooling issues with that engine, than anything else. I shouldn't need a 4-row radiator and a fan that'll blow you over at 1500rpm just to stay...

    Cam Advance for H.O

My guess would be they recommend that to make up for the low end torque you lose by not having the tuned runners of the EFI. If there's anything I'd complain about with my Mach 1's HO, it's the lack of low end torque. It screams above 3K rpm, but really is lacking below 3K. I've always just...
