    Seriously now.... WTF??!!!

Since there is nothing readily appearent (loose connector or wires) near your foot pedal switch - and you are POSITIVE you had brake lights in the past... it all points to another switch either at the master cylinder (P.O. s being what they are they could have "rigged" it to work off the Master...

How to raise the rear on a 68!!!

How bad is the front to rear rake? Most 'stangs had a front higher than the rear - stock. It is the norm to have the rear slightly lower than the front - just doesn't look as cool! And I agree with 302 coupe regarding air shocks... Welding a patch to fix the hole in the rear...

It's console adding time. Stock or Humhugger?

50 bucks a piece for stock consoles is pretty good. Shoot, check ' em out, buy 'em both and resell the one you don't use. My Mach 1 came with the console and the ashtray is a nice place to set guages (ala '69/70 shelby) Without hacking up the interior or making it look hang on. I don't...

    Might be getting a 390...

Jiminy Crickets! I hope they sonic test the block before building that! For the record - a 390 standard bore is 4.05 + a 428 3.998 stroke crank is 410 cid. That block has to be bored to max - 60 or 80 over. (a 428 was a 4.13 standard bore) - Either that or they sleeve the block - but it's...

    Ignition problems

It sounds like you've stabbed the distributor a few times - any chance that the rotor is not pointing at the firing cylinder? er - what I mean is, even though your firing order on the terminals may be correct, it is possible for your rotor to be pointing to say the # 6 position instead of #1...

    A buyer's learning experience...

I can sympathize - I once went to look at a '70 Mach 1 - about an hour and a half drive. About the ONLY thing the guy said that was straight up was it was a 70 Sportsroof. - Car was an "F" code auto with a FULL rollcage hacked and chopped in - and that was the ONLY thing keeping the poor car...

    Flywheel

If you are going like you state from automatic to manual... yes you will need to change the flywheel. Autos use a 'flexplate'/flywheel that is totally incompatible with a manual trans.

    what car is this???

bnickle - I agree about the California Special badging... but then again - there have been some strange combos from the factory before - Remember the 'twister cars'? That was both Mustangs and Torinos. I was always fond of the fairlane and they are getting quite rare - at least here in the...

    what car is this???

At least it's sitting on tires and not blocks - :D I can't confirm a 'california special' fairlane/torino - but chances are it is a Cobra with a 428cj in it. They did have many regional specials for Mustangs though... I guess it is just as likely that they had one for Fairlanes and such.

    So who's married?

I've been married for... WOW 7 years??? - I met my wife at of all things a college buddy's wedding- I saw her and KNEW I had to get to know her. She felt the same about me and dumped her date (I felt bad for the guy but "they were just friends".) Been together ever since.

    what car is this???

Jeez, Haven't any of you kids seen a 68/69 fairlane/torino fastback? :D :D Just kidding guys... They are kinda rare today - but I always thought that was a pretty cool looking car. Could be had with a 302 base for the GT all the way to the 428 CJ in the Torino Cobra. edit- Looking...

    427 / 428 in a 70 ?

Not to be a smart aleck... but yeah, I think I've seen it done. Just look at a 1969/70 428 cobra jet car... or a '69 390 car.... It fits like it was stock. :rlaugh: The only problem could come from the 427 with the vertical exhaust bolts - I believe the hooker super...

    Belt problems with a 1970

I believe the solution would lie in the water pump pulley itself - In other words you may need a different "shorter snout" pulley - or find a scrapyard double pulley. I'm not certain of engine combos and all - although I am certain that there were many cars built without p/s. This will...

O/T My New Ride, Not Stang!!!

Now THAT is a nice ride! :nice: I've always had a soft spot for the Cyclones and Fairlanes... My inlaws live in the Northeast so I'll keep my eyes open when I'm there(oh, and my EARs, that mother has to have a heck of an idle!!!)

Teach me the ways of the Sawzall

Are you certain you have the metal cutting blade???? I did better than that with a hacksaw blade with one end rapped in tape. (It took 14 blades and a day to get one spring). .....look I was a poor dumb 17 year old at the time... ok

To sell or not to sell, what would you do?

The 351m and 400 use a taller deck block than a Cleveland. That may account for the tight fit - That's why I suspect the trans tunnel is battered too - the m uses a 385 series bell housing - not the typical small block ford.

To sell or not to sell, what would you do?

Hmmmm.... starting to sound like someone stuffed a 351m/400 into the 'stang. Is the car a manual or automatic? I'd bet that the trans tunnel has taken a beating as well to fit the BB style bell housing. I am the wrong person to ask about this though... I sold my 1965 mustang daily driver...

    70 Mach-1 quarter window

Hey, it's an honest mistake :nice: I don't claim to know everything... but what I do know I like to share. The earlier ones had those 'air extractor' vents in the quarter pillar. '69 is when they went with the pop out glass.

    70 Mach-1 quarter window

Easy one.... no. '69 and '70 Sportsroofs(fastbacks) only had the flip out type. Heck, the 65-68 FB's didn't even HAVE quarter windows.
