    65 Mustang Back Tires Rubbing

You can use that wheel, but you have to be very careful about backspacing and tire size. Mustang Wheel and Tyre Chart

FE Build 428 Cj Heads On A 390 Block

Yeah, over 40 years ago Ford was touting CJ heads as an upgrade for the 390. Of course, they did recommend a piston change to raise the compression ratio.

What Do I Need To Do To Get This Thing To Kick Down?

Except for 64-65 260/289 cars, all 64-68 170, 200, 289, 302, 390, and 428 Mustangs used the cable-pull kickdown. A lever comes straight down from the throttle shaft where it passes through the firewall, and a slack cable connects the tip of this arm to a small lever on the transmission. When...

    Tail Light Wiring?

I would go through and make sure the instrument cluster and taillight housings are properly grounded. At some point Ford added a ground wire to the cluster, if you have non add it. The taillights ground through the mounting studs.

    Calling 2+2gt/distributor Curve

The specifications are intended to be used in a distributor machine. I have never tried to compare/transpose them to in-car adjustment. Now you've got me curious.

    Cheap V8 Mods For A '65

The GT40P head is not a good choice, since it also forces you to get unique headers that allow the use of the P heads. You'd save money and get nearly as much power if you used your iron heads, and port-matched them to the exhaust. Have the stock distributor curved to BOSS 302 specs. Use a cam...

    Shelby Gt350 Exhaust

I'm not sure where the problem is. Motive makes an excellent reproduction of the 65 GT350 exhaust. As for the glasspacks, the packing traditionally goes bad fairly quickly, so don't worry about that. Horse makes a good point, too- If you have recreated the 289HP engine, which is surprisingly...

    Help With My Incomplete 289

Huh? The mechanical fuel pump on all smallblocks was on the left side. Or are you in England? :flag: As for appearance, all of the pulleys and brackets needed to make it look like a stock 65-69 engine are available new. I have seen this done- For example, a 67 6 cylinder car that was...

What Is Needed To Swap Early 302 To Fox 5.0???

A stock 73 water pump will not mount on a reverse rotation timing cover. Since you already have a 73 cover, this is not an issue, anyway.

    289 Head Id

Shop Tips From Ford Vol. 2 No.2 February 1964 lists the new "Cobra Kits". One of these kits is the 289 HP "Cylinder Head and Valve Kit, C4OZ-6C056-A", which is a pair of 289HP heads with valves and springs installed. Alternatively, you could get the Cobra Engine Performance Kits...

    289 Re-build W/ Gt40 Heads - Need Suggestions

The flat pistons are an excellent plan. A guy near here used port-matched iron heads on his 67 289 (he did the matching himself, his first try), a 600 cfm carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, stock distributor curved to BOSS 302 specs, and a C9OZ-6250-C cam, the Ford hydraulic version of the...

    Speedometer Issues

Hmmm… Wobbling or jumping could easily be the cable, but you could melt the end of the speedo cable with a torch and the needle wouldn't hang up at 40.

    Speedometer Issues

Your problem is internal to the speedometer. You have no choice now but to remove it from the cluster for repair or replacement. Nothing you did with the wiring or the cable could cause this.

Reason Behind '64.5 To '65 4spd Shifter Change?

You could buy a boatload of 4-sp B/U switches- The T10, Ford, and Dagenham 4-sp all used the same switch. As for why they changed the bend in the 3-speed and 4-speed levers, I have no idea. Can't think of any mechanical reason, possibly it was just a styling thing.
