AOD just installed, need help on what to do to it???

Two things control the shift points, the TV cable and the governor. Ford has used governors, and none of them shift at that low of rpm at WOT, so I would guess your TV cable needs tightened up some. With normal 3.08 to 3.27 gears, they should shift into OD, under very light throttle pressure...

Anyone with a aod running bbk long tubes?

BBK LTs are too close together along the lower area, and will not clear the AOD along the transmission/pan area. Why they did not make them about 2 inches wider in this area so they would fit the 5 speed AND AOD is a mystery.

    Fan Question

I bought my Mark VIII fan at a local junk yard for $30 a couple of years ago. The Mark VIII fan is 4,000 to 4,500 CFM, depending on the year. I have no idea on which one mine is, but it cools my 393 stroker with a 3,500 RPM NON Lockup converter with 2 B&M trans coolers mounted in front of the...

    Efi To Carburator Swap

I did the swap to carb, and love it! No hassle with needing to get someone to change the computer settings with each change I do. Handles health cams well, etc. The only disadvantage would be less gas milage for a daily driver. They just look better also :)

    aod dipstick tube leak?

There is a small tab on the tube that a bolt goes through to hold it in. Clean the area off good so no crud falls in, remove the bolt and slide the tube out. If the trans is not over full, fluid will not come out.

    Carb'd - Electric Fuel Pump

Another thing that halps if you are using metal lines, is to use rubber covered clamps on them. Turn on the pump and get under the car and feel the lines and listen for vibrations. I am running a Holley Black, 140 gals per hour at 14 psi, with a return regulator and line. I turned the ignition...

    hood pins, howto? tips? tricks?

I did mine a couple of months ago, and am very happy with it. The easyest way is as above replacing the rubber stops with the pins, but this is not the best way. At high speeds, the front corners of the hood will flex up and down eith out the rubber stops. Here is my pin install...

    MSD6A box install....

I am using the MSD Digital 6, but where you install it has the same advantage/disadvantages. I made a non conductive platform, and mounted it where the glove box was. Allows room for other additions, and easy access. Full details here: http://members.tccoa.com/392bird/ignition.htm Now...

electric fan or new fan clutch?

If you get a good electric, and not just something that will work, you will have full cooling at low speeds, in traffic when you need it. The best fan clutch can only turn 85% engine speed whrn engaged. 85% of 1,000 rpms in traffif is not enough. With something like a Mark VIII fan, you get...

    fuel cell

As long as you stay with gas, and not alcohol, get the foam. It will prevent sloshing in sharp turns, and during launchs. It also reduces airation of the gas. Here is how it looks: Here is how I set mine up. http://members.tccoa.com/392bird/birdwork5.htm The fuel cell...

    ignition ?'s

There are several, and any will work. I used the yello/black one that was going to the factory ignition box. It is around 12-14 guage, and I used it to provide ignition on tower for the MSD, control voltage to the fan and my new electric f uel pump relay. I just finished my Ignition last...
