    Classic car insurance

Well my 87 now falls into the catagory of being able to get classic car insurance. The problem I have run into is that every company that I have checked requires that the car is stored indoors to be able to apply for the insurance. I currently live in an apartment complex so indoors is not...

    Transmission install

Agreed you might as well do it right pull the exhaust down to give yourself enough room to inspect and reinstall it properly instead of fighting it.

Whats the biggest cam a stock 5.0 can hold help

You might as well wait and do a whole top end kit if you really wanna stick with the stock bottom end. If you just throw a big cam in it you wont get the performance you want plus the valves will just end up floating.

    Transmission install

When you go to install it leave the trans in gear and have someone turn the output shaft by hand to try and line the splines up when putting it in, it should just slide right in.

    Transmission install

I would definitly pull it back out you never wanna pull the trans to the bell housing together with just the bolts it should fit flush before you tighten anything. If not you may end up damaging the input shaft on the trans.

    Mysterious water leak

Ok needless to say when I bought my 87 GT this year it had been very neglected. One of the issues I discovered after I bought it was that the top of the front windshield leaked right inside the car and after a good rain pretty much fill up the ash tray with water. I had the front windshield...

Drivetrain Is my clutch bad/going bad?

The stiffness of the clutch pedal dosent indicate if the clutch itself is wearing. The only thing that will really indicate the clutch wearing it when its starts slipping under load. You may just have a really serious clutch and pressure plate in the car.

Headlights stopped working after using high beams

The fog lights were on at the time and its an 87 GT, it also looks like a fairly new multifunction swtich so this may have been an issue for the previous owner as well.

Sounds like an IAC problem to me which is common but I would check the stickys for the idle surge checklist and go through that to start.
