Jacking Points on a 2006 Mustang

It's not exactly the differential that would be the problem, but the axle is designed to have some shift in it so the control arms, brushings, ect would have to strain to hold the weight of the car up, which they are not really designed to do, they are only made to hold the axle and locate it...

    Cold air intake???

Yeah, it's mostly for the name that you pay for, and also much of the time the Ebay ones are made of plastic compared to the metal many of the name brands are (besides K&N, you pay $100 for each letter lol). There are really no benifits between the different brands, the fenderwell intakes all...

    Cold air intake???

It's easy if you can put the car on ramps, or jack the front end up, then pull the fender well lining out some and you can fit the filter through. That's how I installed mine.

    Cold air intake???

I got a mac, whistles like mad, gives a better throttle responce more than anything, but gains are minimal, maybe 3rwhp, but they really don't show until you have a good amount of work without turbo or supercharger.

    Whistling CAI ?

Yeah, it's normal CAI stuff. All of them do it. It's actually there at higher speeds, just most of the time too high pitched or droned out. And you think it's loud inside the cabin, imagine standing next to the car.

performance gains for 02v6 5 spd

Manual V6 is somewhere around 170-180rwhp and auto is about 150-155rwhp. Mine was 155rwhp with a cold air intake which gives about 3 rwhp. Nitrous is a good bang for the buck quickly, but over time it becomes expensive with the bottle fills. But there are alot of mods you can do, Underdrive...

    The Next Step

http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/pulley_tech.htm explains everything about the underdrive. It will slow them down, but everything will still work fine. Unless if you have a large stereo system or for some reason are just concerned with underpowering the car, you can get an 18% overdrive pulley...

    The Next Step

On a 2000, for gears your have to get it tuned or flashed, and the costs can range from $700-$1000. UDP is just $155-180 depending on where you find it.

    First mod??

The X pipe wont fit onto the headers, and it is a Cobra exhaust, Cobra's use different routings because of a different type of suspension system, so only GT, Mach I or Bullitt (which is a GT) will fit.
  11. TMX

    First mod??

I think it is 2.5" stainless steel. For most shops, you just bring your car and the exhaust, then they can cut and change out the Y to an H, X, or just straight mid pipes and connect it all together. You could get the exhaust hangers if you wanted, Two rear tailpipe hangers (part XR3Z-5A246-AA)...

    First mod??

I know the first one from the Mach I would fit your car, the 2nd I am not 100% sure about. And no, I kept the stock bumper, just hangs below. http://70.241.118.254/~matt/newexhaust.jpg is what it looks like from right behind it.
  13. TMX

    First mod??

Well, it was $225 on Ebay, a 2004 Mach I takeoff, but it cost another $125 to install it, cutting Y pipe and making it straight pipes. Plus there was the whole problem with the fact that Mach I takeoffs have to be tweaked slightly to work because a V6 needs the pipes angled sideways to clear the...
  14. TMX

    First mod??

Yeah, that is the stock single exhaust, not upgrading, not what you want. I paid $225 for my 2.25" take off dual exhaust and $125 to install it with 3" chrome tips, plus it's all stainless steel, the shop quoted $600 for stainless fabbed up.

    Off-Road X or H on a V6?

3.8 is a 232, the 4.6 of today is a 281, the 5.0 is 302 and the old 4.7L, 289's of the classic years I believe is what he is refering to.

    New Rims

Depends on the tire size you got. If you put 245/45 17's or 275/40 17's, then the difference in speed will be like a couple tenths of a second off, nothing that will be noticed expecially when you figure the speedometer is off by 1-2mph to begin with.

    Off-Road X or H on a V6?

Off road just means it doesn't have the catalytic converters, which is why they are illegal in alot of places. If you got long tube headers and the O/R x-pipe, you would have to get any catback system that fits GTs, could be taken from a GT, flowmaster system for a GT, or if you want you could...

    Off-Road X or H on a V6?

I have 2.25" piped, straight back pipes (no H or X) with 3" tips, it sounds awesome all around. And for GTs, the increase in horsepower is because at higher RPMs, the mid section of the H-pipe becomes ineffective and when the 2 cylinders on a single side fire back to back, you gain some back...

    Off-Road X or H on a V6?

I say if you want an offroad pipe, go with longtubes because they help make it much less raspy, but LT's hang quite low and can scrape easily. off-road x-pipes on the shorties and almost any muffler just starts to sound very raspy and ricey in my opinion. In the end, it comes down to how do you...

    4.10 gear question

Well, you will definately get better traction, and 4.10s will knock some time of the quarter mile times. The one problem about 4.10s on a 5 speed, don't expect to practically use 1st gear, as first gear would end at 30 mph, a very quick gear. And maybe highway gas milage goes down somewhat...
