I can tell you when i had my basically stock motor, with 75mm maf, 70mm t-body, and cai, full exhaust, the typhoon killed my low end power, but gained on the upper rpm pulls, plus the engine reved faster.
I laugh to cause I just did it in july also, my whole engine is basically brand new aside from the following
a few bolts
timing cover plate (refinished)
timing pointer (refinished)
spiders and brace
oil filter adapter nut
accessory brackets and accessories
I used the term oil filter adapter nut, which might not be the exact term but thats the only way I know how to describe it, its a big allen key threaded plug that goes into the block in which your oil filter actually threads onto when your installing it. You might get lucky and be able to use...
these are thing speople usually don't remeber to get.
FMS-M6026A302 plug and dowel kit
oil filter adapter nut
oil pressure sender unit
rear engine spacer plate
really pissed right now after re-building my combo all summer long in my limited time after work, today i fill her up with fluids and notice that my my coolant is going somewhere, i look under the car and its raining coolant from the head/block seal on both sides of the engine and heads.

Some how I managed to break the clips on the maf connector on the harness is there anywhere anyone knows of that sells these things, I really don't want to buy a new harness just cause of this one stupid connector.
aem is pretty expensive also around 1200 bucks to i believe, I went with a twecer r/t for the 550 price tag, think one of the mustang mags did an article on the aem one. I weary of that compnay cause of its import background, but thats just me. might be an excellent product
on a correctly timed car a vaccum leak will made the car idle more erradically, even sounding like it has a big cam (when it doesn't), but the power will be down as will the throttle response. sounds like your timing might be close but not quiiet there. try rotating the distributor clockwise or...
yeah check that shipping out what does the whole thing weigh 5lbs and its 25 bux shipping, I shipped a fmu expressmail 3-5 days to austaila for 28 bux insured.
don't think the sanding thing is a bad idea, use a dremel and remove the butterfly and just smooth it out with a fine grit, you don't want to remove any material at all just enough to give u a little room.
I paid 6200 for my 93 about 4 years ago with 50k miles and you could eat anywhere off the car thats how clean it was, had no mods except for puleys, 180 stat, and a k&n. I say 5k is reasonable
im guessing vaccum leak cause at closed throttle (idle) you have boost once air enters after throttle body plate it all drops off. check the basics like vaccum lines and connections on the intake, and the vaccum tree. (charcoal canister, pcv, fuel regulator, egr, b/s). if that yields nothing...
