Hmmmm. I'd think the Armorall would be a dirt magnet. You don't have a problem with that?

    Engine compartment detail

So how do you all keep those engine compartments all spic and span? I'd like to keep my fresh engine looking that way as best as I can. I've had bad luck with the common engine degreasers removing paint and leaving spots. Is there something better?

does anyone have a front bumper for sale?

I've got a front and rear, yours for the cost of shipping if you want them. They're straight but a little scratched up. But Ozsum2 is right, a new one is probably money better spent. It was cheaper for me to by new ones then to have these re chromed.

    powertrax

I have a Lock Rite by Powertrax in my 4x4 diffs. If this is the same basic design (replacing spider and side gears with locking components), I can testify to the traction effectiveness. Works great! But on road manners are not good. You really know it's there when turning corners.

    Lets talk welders...

Hobarts are good but have a look at Miller too. Tese two names get the nod for quality from my few fabricator friends. Remember you get what you pay for. :nice:

I've been thinking the dist cap is the only ignition part I haven't switched out yet. Though it is new. Cheap enough to try.

The intake is pure FoMoCo 1966 cast iron and the spacer is an aluminum slab about an inch thick with a PCV port. I was dubious about the propane too. But a respected mechanic friend of mine assured me it would be all right. I belive its fairly sensitive, I shot it down the oil fill and...

I'm pretty confident the rockers are up to spec as the symptoms were present before and after I installed them. But I'll recheck the mfg info. Plugs should be good, just finished re gapping them while I did a compression check. Now, this possiblity of an internal vacuum leak still troubles...

The push rods are stock and the rockers are stock replacement 1.6 ratio. I think that should be all right.

Great minds think alike! The roughness I describe is very similar to a what you get when a valve is too tight. But They were adjusted per method you describe above. adjustedI even went to the bone yard for an old set of covers to cut up. Considering the initial timing was way advanced when I...

I've been using a tach and ear to set idle mixture. leaning it out while watching for rpm drop then just rich enough to clean it up. What do you look for on the vac gauge, Maximum vac? Needle fluctuation?

I Will check, but mounts are new and I would think a bad one would shake the whole car less not more

Calling on the wisdom again, I'm stumped

Good point but at 1st I was using the original carb that I had rebuilt. And I was seeing the same issue then. I may have bagged that carb too soon but the Pony Carb does seem to atomize the fuel better.

Calling on the wisdom again, I'm stumped

Lets go back to square one. I've had some good discussion and input from this collective wealth of knowledge on this irritating problem. I've made some changes/improvements but I still am not satisfied with the smoothness of this engines idle. Back to the facts: 1966 289 2V, CA emissions...
