Progress Thread Daily Driver.... 89 GT - Front suspension rebuild

I hope this does help someone in the future. Honestly It never dawned on me that those tubes could leak when I was trying to diagnose it. Feel kinda silly now but I learned something. I drove it to work today. No coolant leak and no annoying brake clicking. More flipping snow on the forecast...

I think the coolant was leaking from the gap. Unfortunately you could not see it when the heater hose was installed. The leak gradually got worse as time went on. The third time I put the old new pump on it leaked right after I filled the cooling system. I didn’t even start or drive the car...

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

Ok I’ll change it when it warms up a bit. Yeah usually we don’t get much snow anymore. Typically it is a few light dustings and that is it. We got 8-10” yet when I work 26 miles away they got the light dusting. Supposedly we’re going to get more snow tonight. Temp is going to be mid 30’s so...

Think I finally got the water pump leak under control. So far so good. Had to get another new pump under warranty. Didn’t even think to look at the hose connections at first. Learned something new :nice:

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

So the snow thawed out enough today that I could go for a quick rip without worrying about getting stuck. I am happy to report no more annoying clicking. Now I’m debating if I should change the other side out just for piece of mind.:chin

    SN95 Instrument Cluster Knowledge Search

Odometer is an easy fix. The one in my wife's 96 vert failed a couple years back. It was like a $10 part and 30 min of my time. I believe 96 and 97 are the same and 98 is unique as far as instrument clusters go but I do not remember why. V6 and V8 are different. Speedo is 120 in a V6 car Vs...

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

Thanks I hope so too!! We normally don’t get much snow here in the Portland area. Snow was only originally forecasted for 8-10am. Was not expecting it to start this evening, much less stick. I guess Mother Nature had different plans today.

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

I put it back together. Got the car back on the ground but then it started to snow so I didn’t move cars to go for a test drive. Not sure it it will be gone by tomorrow:cautious:

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

Unfortunately the way I have the car in the garage currently does not allow me to pull the pass side wheel off so that test will need to wait for another time if replacing the shoes does not solve this. New shoes came today. Two things I noticed. New shoes have some ears to ride on the backing...

    Convertible Top Replacement SN95/NewEdge

Thanks for posting and nice work. I am going to have to do my wife’s vert in the next year or two. I have a parts car with a fairly new top but it is black and my wife’s car has a white top. Originally I didn’t care for the white top but I have grown to like it so it will get a white top again.

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

No worries. All good. I appreciate your input. I mean it :nice: No nothing poking through on the axle flange. I almost want to get another set of shoes just because? This thing is weird. Braking is no different though. Just the clicking.

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

Yes I have been doing drum brakes since 1986. Done many sets since. This is the first time I have run into this. Passenger side on this car makes no noise.

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

I picked up a new motorcraft spring kit from rock auto on one of my recent orders. I don’t think the springs are the problem as I already swapped some of them with some used ones I had in my pinto bolt bucket. It didn’t make a difference. Not sure where to go from here:shrug:

    Brakes Clicking noise while braking?

Back at this again because the clicking is driving me crazy. Pulled the wheel and drum off. I don’t see anything??? Took it all apart again as well. Still no smoking gun. Backing plate is worn up top but not super bad in my opinion. I’ve seen worse. Here is what everything looks like.

Electrical ECU part (eprom?) damaged by capacitor help

Unfortunately, that looks like it is an SMT component. You need is a DIP or through hole component. If google does not yield anything with the markings on the IC then I would maybe reach out to tech support from Texas instruments. There is usually a link on all the IC manufacturers web...

I got it together today just have put the belt on and fill it. I will wait to fill it till tomorrow. It will give the sealant time to cure.

So here are a couple pics of the pump and the rear cover. The right stuff doesn’t seem to stick real well to the cover? The gasket came off real easy on both sides.
