    sitting high??

-Drag setup? -Compressed heigth of the strut is incorrect? -Control arm to k-member bolts tightened when suspension was hanging? -Factory type springs and the car has been lightened drastically up front? -Spring not properly in it's nesting area on the control arm? -Body in the trunk...

    Tubular Front Control Arms

I thought AJE (Anthony Jones Engineering) only sold the upper spring perches for use with their K-members ... of course to be used in conjunction with the stock control arms, which have a nesting area for the spring. I haven't seen a 'tubular control arm' from AJE that has a nest for a coil...

    347, which heads?

Here's my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth ... A street car for me is more about throttle response and respectable performance ... to others it's all about numbers potential. An engine combo that has poor throttle response (too large of ports) down low but pulls like a raped ape up top...

    3.73's and pullies overkill???

That will save a few amps and might be enough if charging becomes an issue ... but the alternator still rotates a little less than stock, because the crank pulley has a smaller circumference.

    3.73's and pullies overkill???

UD pulleys spin all the pulleys less revolutions per minute ... it creates less wear overall. The downside/trade off is the waterpump will flow less gph at idle, as well as the alternator producing less amperage. The typical solution if you run into charging issues is to buy a larger...

    347 stroker woes

:Word: You probably have the 5.4" rods with the intersecting pin bore = short skirt that can rock in the bore until the friction heats the piston skirt enough to expand it just a fraction. That will make up the gap on a mediocre quality piston ... Piston/valvetrain noise should always be...

    3:55 Gears

    Well I've played with ... 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, 4.11 and that was the end of the line for me. T5, T5Z, TKO, AOD, C4, 700R4, TH350, TH400, 4L60, M20, M21, M22, T10's Of course there's a lot of GM Muscle in there.. but what the hell, it gives one a well rounded idea what...

    3:55 Gears

How the hell can you say this  You must have a numb azz? I can even notice sotp feel between close sets like a 3.90 and a 3.73 .. although not great, it is definitely noticeable. 3.55's are a great gear and do add considerable pull to a ride.

AFR or Trickflow top end? please read!

165's are only good to about .520" valve lift ... Anything above this point will not add additional benefit for you without porting the heads. What cc chamber do you have? 165's will perform pretty damn well on a 347 relative to what you may be accustomed to. However, I think the TW's...

    3:55 Gears

I can't see going numerically higher than 3.55 1. I hate up-shifting more than is necessary ... takes all the fun outta driving :( 2. Putting 3.73's or shorter gears in a 5spd car is a mistake when the car might eventually get a chunky power adder :Damnit: 3. Who wants to be the...

    Urethane vs Rubber tranny mounts

... well, some of us are (interpret this whichever way makes you feel good) ... Poly is better for the tranny in the sense that it absorbs enough energy to thwart of bad vibes, but it's also rigid enough to fight off conflicting changes in motion ... However, if the other attaching pieces...

What does everyone think about the BBK SSI "new" intake manifold?

This months issue of 5.0 (just got it yesterday) again tested intakes on a 347 with a few others to compare: SSi, RPMII,Track Heat, Holley & GT-40 The engine consisted of a CHP shortblock, AFR185's, a Comp XE282HR, 36lbers and all the usual engine dress. I can't give you all of the...

    quick questioncar

Just to expand on what he's talking about ... A diode is a one-way valve for electricity. The diode only allows current to flow in one direction. A/C = alternating current D/C = direct current An alternator generates alternating current (a/c). The diodes in the alternator "turn" the a/c...

    New bbk ssi intake

I read the 5.0 article where they tested it on a 306 and then again on a 347. Both engines had decent aftermarket street parts. On the 306 it made erratic power below 4K and didn't quite deliver above 4K compared to the other usual suspects. On the 347 however it performed really well ...

    can u identify this cam?

I used SolidWorks 2006 ... a $4K design program that works by creating 2-D sketches and then extracting 3-D solid entities from the sketchs. The design and drawing I did above took about 5 minutes ... it's a sweet program ... well that is until you get paid to use it every day :bang:
