    Why 4.6?

There are no rebates on the GTO, and it is not part of the GM Employee Pricing this month either.

So, how does the Charger compare...

At least until the SRT comes out, you should have nothing to fear from a Charger. The SRT might be closer, but I still think the Stang would prevail.

    Why 4.6?

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a source for that? Given that the LS1 was a brand-new design in 1998 and not all that old, I find it difficult to believe that it has any sort of emission issues.

    Why 4.6?

    350hp 3V 5.4 sounds even better to me :D

    Why 4.6?

I was talking about mileage efficiency :nice: Yes, the 4.6 puts out slightly more HP per liter, but the LS1 still puts out much more power overall than the 4.6, and gets better mileage doing it. What's really pathetic is the 4.0 V6 in the Mustang. 210 horsepower and hardly any better...

    Why 4.6?

I haven't heard that the LS1 is emission challenged either, but the 2005 Vette has the LS2 engine anyway :) The GTO is rated 16/21 for the A4, and 17/25 for the M6. Keeping in mind that it too has the LS2, a 6.0 liter, 400HP motor in a heavier car than the Stang. Cambird refers to the...

Ford Family Plan Puts Out The Welcome Mat; Employee Pricing For Ford, lincoln, mercury

Yeah, I just checked their site and they have tons of them. There are none to be had in Denver though. Phil Long can bite me with $5,000+ over MSRP in Colorado Springs :)

    Why 4.6?

No, it starts at $45,000. You can certainly spend $50K or more on one fully loaded, but you don't have to.

    Why 4.6?

My only point was that someone else said the LS1 wasn't very efficient, but compared to the 4.6 Ford V8 it's an efficient motor. Gets better mileage than the Ford 4.6 does, and makes more power. True, you can't buy one today, but that doesn't change the fact that the LS1 in the Cambird is...

    What are my rights?

IANAL=I Am Not A Lawyer :) I doubt it. It's a used car. Used cars are generally sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, and WITH ALL FAULTS. Even though it's still got some factory warranty left, about the best you can do it keep taking it in until they (possibly) get it right. Try another dealer if...

    What are my rights?

Unfortunately, you've got a used car. IANAL, but Lemon Laws generally only apply to the first purchaser of the vehicle, even if it's still under warranty. You may be entitled to the remainder of the factory warranty, but that's about it. Perhaps you're now discovering why the vehicle was...

    Why 4.6?

Still, the LS1 powered Cambirds get remarkable mileage for having such a big engine, and they weigh in about the same as a Stang. And they tend to get better mileage than the Stang as well.

So, how does the Charger compare...

I ran a Chrysler 300 Hemi last night with my Z28 at the track. I beat him by 2 seconds in the 1/4. The Charger is basically the same car, so I wouldn't think the Charger will be any real competition, at least not until the 425HP version comes out.

Ford Family Plan Puts Out The Welcome Mat; Employee Pricing For Ford, lincoln, mercury

Looking into my crystal ball, no earlier than 2007. :D I just went out this weekend looking for GTs (semi-seriously) and nobody in the Denver area has a GT for sale on the lot, and very few V6s. One dealer told me they won't have any that aren't already sold for a year (probably full of...

Ford Family Plan Puts Out The Welcome Mat; Employee Pricing For Ford, lincoln, mercury

No way were they going to do the Mustang - it's selling as is with no rebates/special financing. It's the only thing Ford's got right now that sells at MSRP easily with no incentives - just like the Vette.

    SRT-4 can wax a '05 Mustang GT?

How many stock GTs are pulling 13 seconds in the 1/4? I suppose if you mean "in the 13s" that's one thing (like 13.9), but pulling a flat 13 seems pretty unlikely stock.

    Why no hood scoop?

$4K for a cheesy hood scoop? You've GOT to be kidding me. Are you sure that wasn't just the extra dealer markup with free hood scoop? :) I think that's one of the nicest things about the 2005 Mustangs - they lost that retarded fake hood scoop they were putting on the previous GTs.

    Mods to improve gas mileage?

A lighter right foot is about the easiest, quickest thing you can do :) I wouldn't expect much MPG increase from simple/cheap things, as Ford would have done that already. An extra MPG is worth a lot to Ford's CAFE numbers...

New '06 Chevy SS line up vs. new mustangs...??

I agree, I don't think it's all that attractive either. I never said the SS was going to beat the GT, only that it could give the GT a good run for its money. It'll be interesting to see how they perform when they hit the streets.

New '06 Chevy SS line up vs. new mustangs...??

And how much does that dumptruck weigh? The Impala SS is going have a bigger engine than the GT and more power than the GT and weigh in about the same. You do the math. Granted it's FWD, but it's got more power as well. Could get interesting :) I'd still take the GT over the Impala in...
