    My Carburetor is singing the blues!!

    Sounds a little like a vacuum leak. Do you see any discolorations around the carb base? Like it was leaking a little gas and then drying. I had something similar happen, the carb gasket acted like a reed and would give a high pitched squeal.

    Gears. How hard to DIY swap

    It's the trak-lok that kills you, they cost around $400.00. The rebuild only includes gaskets, shims, bearings, etc. He also wanted to go to 3.55 gears, that is another couple hundred. Gets pricey quick.

    Rule of thumb says there is probably 5 times more rust than you can see. Do you know the engine code? Unless it is an "A" code or better, I believe $12,500 is a bit high. I paid a little more than that for a Cali '65 FB last year that is truly rust free. Would anyone else on this board call...
