    How easy to work on?

svttech76 probably knows where I'm coming from when I say the 4.6 in the mustang chassis is pretty much one of the easiest modern V8's to work on. Very (and I mean very), low maint. vehicles for sure. Bought my 00' with 62k. It now has 136k, purchased back in summer of 05'. The ONLY...

99 gt Both windows not working!!

+1 You'll need to open up the harness and inspect. Most cars I have worked on, all windows run through the master switch, so that explains both windows not working.

    98 4.6 to 5.4 lightning motor

It will bolt right up to your stock mounts and trans. Need 8 bolt flywheel I believe. The long tubes will not work without major mods to them. Stock manifolds and some shorty headers work just fine. H pipe needs to be slightly widened. Just a straight 5.4 2v NA and all you need is whats...

    Some advice ??? mods?

Intake/plenum/TB and midpipe are the easy ones. Gears would be the best first step, but most wait. Those who waited will tell you afterwards they would have gotten them first. Altogether, my whole setup ran me about $800. FRPP 4.10's, all new bearings/seals, SCT programmer, and a buddy put...

    Rattle at 1500 - 2000 rpm's ?

Now, funny story for all of you...but this is so stupid its not even funny. Last summer, I took a trip to the local 1/8 track. About halfway down the track after the 2-3 shift, I started hearing a rattle, similar to what you describe. It never got worse, and I had no driveability issues. I...

    what brake lines too use?

Stock GT lines will work just fine I believe, but upgrading to SS braided lines is always a good idea. Less flex = better pedal feel.

What is the next possible GT engine?

IMO, thats all we are going to get, GT wise. One, you have to remember: the top dog mustang will always be the SVT (or "shelby" if you will...its still SVT in my book) model. There is no reason for ford to get crazy...thats why they have that model. Two, it seems what Ford likes to do is...

    No more Flowmasters

It is loud. After a few months, I went back to the flows. Been trying to sell the SLP stuff for the last couple weeks. They are very nice, well crafted pieces. I really didnt mind the "loud", but in the end the rasp got me. High RPM, and heavy load between 2,000 - 3,000 rpm produced quite...

MM K-member guys come on in please

Anyone going to answer his question? Somehow this turned into a MM vs UPR debate. IMO, first off good choice on the MM. I wouldnt settle for anything less myself, esp if its for a street car. Couple points: IIRC, you need the K member for coil-overs (better ride AND handling) and the...

Got back from the track, best run

Good times. I've been waiting to get back to a 1/4 mile track with the 4.10's since I got them. My 1/8 has stayed the same, 9.0. Should go 8's in the 1/8, but my local track never hooks well (spinning bad going into 3rd). Bring that 60ft down to a 2.0 or better and you should be able to...

How much did you get for trading in your 05-07 mustang gt?

I agree, I'd rather have an IRS. But apparantly it was us "enthusiasts" that wanted the solid rear (applying to the GT500). So, if the enthusiasts want it, and the general public doesnt know the difference, Ford will keep the solid rear...its cheaper. To the OP, I dont know how you are...

There is no talking to ricers

The "stupid, annoying kids" are both right, and wrong to tell you the truth. B18 is one of honda's engine codes. For simplicity and argument sake, the most common engines used in honda's until maybe 5 years ago were the B16, B18 and H22. The B16 came in the Civic Si and Del Sol. B18 I...

    4.6L Gas Mileage

I'll usually get 14-16 city, and 20-23 hwy. Thats with 4.10's. I've had them for over a year and its pretty much stayed the same. On the old 3.27's city MPG was a little lower, and the hwy MPG a little higher. Best ever recorded with the 3.27's was 29mpg driving at 60mph for over 100 miles.

    Question for certified ASE mechanics

To the OP: It varies. Typically, domestic dealers and independants pay a little more. Alot of the independant shops are hourly, and dealers flat rate. Again, it varies. I think the highest paid tech at my dealer is making around 23/hr. I'm at 15/hr flat rate. If I was commuting north I...

    Any objection?

This is true, to an extent. You have to remember that cams are made specifically for a certain application. There are N/A, blower, and turbo cams for a reason. Putting an N/A cam on a blower car would be a waste; there is too much overlap in an N/A cam for a blower car. So all that "air"...

    Mid pipe install.....seriously wtf

All you need is a 15mm shallow 1/2" drive socket, 1/2" universal swivel, extension and ratchet. Thats it. If you use a 3/8 drive, a shallow socket wont be deep enough, but a deep socket will be too long. 1/2" drive is key. Trust me. Figured that out and have had zero problems with my H pipe...

Now you have to worry about bmw's???

Lexus IS F :nice: Just like others have said, german engineering is hard to get by. It just blows my mind everytime how they handle, steer and ride so well. To have a car that goes exactly where you want it to, without beating up your kidneys scores in my book. As much as I'd love to...

    clutch or gears?

The only real cheap power mod for a stock or near stock car is a midpipe (4.6 2v anyway). Everything else can wait and most on these boards will agree. Everyone with a near stock 4.6 2v that has gears would put that on their top mods to do first. It's not the cheapest to do, but its a...
