    Why no 6 speed love?

The only thing about the "it's gonna' cost you" argument is the stiff competition from cars like the Z. Nissan can build a car with 280hp, IRS, 6spd., etc. at start them at $27k. So, it shouldn't be that difficult (expensive) for Ford to do the same, especially since they are domestic. I am not...

    2005 Mustang GTR and Saleen?

Umm.... its not that far off the 05 Mustang. Make a couple minor cosmetic changes (bumper covers, head and tail lights, rear quater window), and this is what you have. Especially considering it is off (most likely) Ford's own concept race car.

Playing around again, I wanted to see what this could look like in a street version: I'll take two please!

    2005 Mustang GTR and Saleen?

The GTR pics look real to me--radiator/yellow paint on inner frame, rear tail light, and all around it is just too darn good for some chopper to spend that much time on. The only thing that looks fishy to me is the exhaust on the driver's side and the paint on the wing's fins -- but even that...

blue oval news!!! v6 from 20. and limeted edition 50.000

The Z06 also doesn't seat 4. The Mustang is a muscle car (big, heavy, seats 4, no need to worry about aerodynamics, etc.). The vette is more a sports car, small, light (in comparison), near racecar ready. I don't think there is anything Ford could do to the Mustang short of severe...

    Interesting tidbit

Interesting that isn't even the Grand Prize--a Pro-Am golf event??? As far as the price is concerned, I think the new car will come way under that for base price, but fully loaded should be close to there. Good find.

    05 Mustang, the next classic?

But the ZR1 is all about performance, and that is why that car is a classic. That is kind of my point. It takes one of a couple of things to become a classic -- being the first--original and nostalgic, being very rare, or being a unique supercar you can buy off the showroom floor. The new...

    05 Mustang, the next classic?

Point well taken. But, aren't you talking about a HUGE performance increase? The ZR1 was basically a road-worth supercar. I don't see the same level of increase in the new Mustangs. Now, if we are talking variations, I think the 2000 Cobra R will definitely become a classic (if it isn't...

    A better v6 eventually?

As already mentioned, the V6 is supposed to be a cheap alternative to sell more units. Remember, the Mustang is a muscle car. It is designed to be heavy, seat four adults, go straight, and be fun to tear up the streets. That is why torque is so important. It is much better for daily driving...

    05 Mustang, the next classic?

The originals will always be "classic", while later versions won't. It is a simple fact of being the first. The original Mustang is such a "classic" because there was nothing like it before and it started a movement, in a golden era for the car. The new cars, no matter how great they are...

    2005 Mustang WHEN????

Tell them you will buy the car, but only if they will reduce the price $1,000 for each week it is late. You should be able to walk away with a free one! :D The first Mustang isn't slated to be built until Sept: http://www.blueovalnews.com/2004/plants/2005.job1.htm

05 GT, Where is the hood scoop?

I would personally rather have a Mach1-style shaker or something functional. But have no fear, Ford has so many variants to choose from down the road, it isn't even funny. They are going to let this first batch of "regular" cars go for a little bit. Then when interest and press opportunities...

What does everyone want to get?

Sounds like someone would do well with a V6, then a engine swap when the Cobra engine comes out. Insurance would never have to know. :D

Ford is saying the price will probably be around normal inflationary price increases. So, lets hope they live up to their word.

More Columbus, OH Auto Show Stang Pics!!

I don't think the stripes will be an issue. If Ford won't offer it, a good body shop should be able to do it cheaply. Personally, I would rather have a body shop do it exactly the way I want it than Ford's "please the masses" approach. And, then there is always vinyl.... I just wish it had...
