    68 Mustang over-heating after upgrades

What temp high flow Tstat is going in? I would suggest 180*-195* range, have heard good things about the Stewart ones. I take it you have a fan/shroud, at least 3 core rad., 24" vs. 20" rad? Coolant mix? Are you using water wetter? Have you verified that you have the correct water pump for your...

    1967 Mustang Coupe

If you open the cap to the rad. (cold of course) you can count the rows of tubes running front>back (2,3) in the top of the rad. if the fluid's clear or you may need to bleed a little off. I swapped out my stock nonAC 20" '67 rad. with a '68 AC 24" wide 3+ row from NPD. The '68 one comes with...

How to remove lugs from front brake drums

I separated 2 front hubs from the drum and can't think of a way that wouldn't damage or weaken the studs, as 2+2 mentioned press the studs out and get new ones. I pounded on the studs with a 2X4 and sledge in an opposite star pattern until I could see movement then pounded on the hub center...

    Anyone heard of Evapo-rust?

A friend of mine that has a 1 man hot rod shop tried it recently and really likes the evaporust stuff. He had a fire at his shop > fire dept. water + days of rain so everything salvageable was rusty. He started soaking stuff and was amazed at how clean the parts came out; "i just bought some &...

    O/D swap shifter

I think 1/4" steel rod is plenty, no need for 1/2" thick steel rod, it only moves the shift lever back/forth which I can do by hand. I think the stock C4 kickdown lever may have been 1/2" but hollow. You can go a little thicker if you like but the thicker you go the larger rod end you'll...

    O/D swap shifter

All you need is some all thread or I used 1/4" alum. dowel stock and a die and made my own threads, then I used a RH and LH rod end. I did this for my throttle linkage but the shift linkage would look the same: AFCO Racing 10175-18 - AFCO Racing Throttle Linkage Rods - Overview -...

    O/D swap shifter

I haven't looked at that shifter but it does not have a gear indicator so you won't know at a glance what gear you are in if it makes a difference to you. It sure comes with a lot of universal brackets but looks like it would fit the stock hole. Yes you can use the stock shifter, it takes a...

My Mac tru-fit headers don't fit

Well there you go, JBA makes them to fit an AOD, news to me but they still require a drop down bracket for PS? and the $800 price tag rules them out for me unfortunately. I don't know why it's so hard for them to clear the PS, the MACs do. Jon

My Mac tru-fit headers don't fit

WHY don't they fit? my guess is "mocked them up with the 4r70w". They are designed to fit a stock engine/trans which would be a 289/302 and C4 or manual trans. I bet they are hitting the sides of the AOD pan? I installed the same headers, they fit fine with the 289/C4, cleared the PS ram and...

    Time to upgrade exhaust

I'd add an H pipe back to the system just to equalize the cylinders, should stop the pop back and I'd try eliminating the 3rd muffler. With super turbos (quiet) already I would think limiting a dual exhaust down to single through 1 muffler would choke the system somewhat. Jon

moog VS SCOTT DRAKE Vs Grab-A-Trak

I'd go MOOG everytime no matter the use or McQuay Norris, you have no idea who makes the other two. I had GAT suspension parts that rubbed after install due to shifting of bushings (LCA). Got MOOG replacements, metal was thicker/beefier. Jon

    Vibration after aod swap

I take it you meant to say the driveshaft was not shortened but the trans yoke was shortened from the C4? Did you have the driveshaft balanced before reinstall? New ujoints? What trans support did you use? New C4 trans mount? Just trying to figure out if your driveline angle is...

    Best 15 Inch Tire

Sorry, late to the party, I've got Yoko YK520's on my '67, drove them for 1.5yrs. before teardown. They seemed to fair well, no sliding or traction loss noted on a stock engine at the time. I too liked the wear rating and abilty to drive in most any weather, yes I drive my car in most any...

    Paint then and now

I find torch red to be more of a bright red and the new candyapple to be closer to the color on my '67 or maybe I'm just hoping mine will look that way when done. Jon

    Front drum & hub

I did 2 of those, one came apart fairly easy the other was a bear. I soaked it down as mentioned, covered the hub center with a chunk of 4X4 and smacked the center of the hub with a sledge. I also put the block over 2 studs at a time with the nuts unscrewed level with the top of the stud and...

    Timing Chain Cover

Hopefully your TC is the same one that came on the block. I would check your casting numbers and date code to see what year your 351W is. The casting numbers and date code should be cast into the block at the rear right (passengers) bottom corner of the block just above the oil pan mount like...
