Why doesn't ford come out with a Boss mustang?

An inside source said Ford did consider a S197 Boss but cancelled it a few years ago. I'm not sure if there's another Boss coming out.

    Ford's 400HP 5.0 (Coyote) V8 spied !

Yes it does in the general sense and coincidentally many of the modular engines have "modular" components, but Modular officially refers to how the plant tooling can be easily changed. :D Ford Modular engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ford Modular V-8 Engine - Mustang & Fords...

    Ford's 400HP 5.0 (Coyote) V8 spied !

I heard the new Coyote V8 will be made in the Romeo engine plant, where the modular V8s are currently assembled (Windsor is slowing down its production based on what I heard). The modular name comes from the way the plants were designed (to be modular), easily retooled to produce a number of...

    Wiper Blades?

It doesn't look like we can use longer blades on the S197, but longer blades on the Crown Vic increases sweeping area. I already upgraded to longer blades on the E-250 about 6 years ago and haven't run into issues with streaking.

Then you probably don't have a problem with road salt?

    Wiper Blades?

That's pretty much the norm in Michigan. We have a differential of about 40F during some seasons: 40F in the morning, 80F in the afternoon. Right now it is 0F, but the past few days it has been in the -15F to -10F region with a -30F windchill or lower. It's supposed to warm up to about 23F...

    Wiper Blades?

For the rain season, I just use the gel rain-x stuff you buy at Wal-Mart along with the Rain-X orange wiper fluid (winter formula). When combined, I no longer have to use wipers above 45 MPH. The only time I have to use wipers is behind traffic or in the city. For the snow season, you can't...

    Wiper Blades?

The Stang is actually still garaged for the winter. I was impressed with the frameless wipers I bought for the Vic so I was curious about what other S197 owners did for their wipers. I may upgrade the Stang this spring.

    Wiper Blades?

Thanks bigcat! I took a look at it, and it seems we're stuck with 22" driver's side, 20" passenger side. Going to 24" / 22" would be pushing it. I looked at the markings and the Stang wipers look to be sized appropriately. On my Crown Vic, the manual states to use 22" and I upgraded to 24"...

    Steering wheel logo deteriorating?

The *****ty Armor All is glossy. The Natural Finish Armor All is pretty damn good from what I have seen, it's almost like 303 but available OTC.

    Wiper Blades?

Has anyone upgraded to longer wipers for their S197? If so, what size(s) did you end up using?

    Steering wheel logo deteriorating?

I still use 303 and prefer it, but I found the Armor-All Natural Finish to work just as well (NF does not contain silicones or oil).

    Steering wheel logo deteriorating?

It did this before I used Armor-All. I've only used 303 in the past but it is no excuse for the emblem to disintegrate like this.

    Rear axle ratio choices

It won't hurt city driving MPG. The Crown Vic with 2.73s gets 20 MPG in the city while the same car with 3.55s gets 11-13 MPG in the city. Either way you slice it, the Modular engines get better gas mileage with 2.73s especially if you lug it around town.

    Rear axle ratio choices

Well I always shift at or below 2k RPM with my GT, and I frequently lug the engine around the city. I never understood why people NEED to run the engine at 3000+ RPM with a manual.

    Rear axle ratio choices

I have the 3.55s now but I wish I didn't opt for them so I could stick with the 3.31s. I just saw "Limited Slip 3.55" and wanted to make damn sure I got a limited slip. Ford screwed me over big time by not making a LSD optional or standard on the Crown Vic. It seems the 3.31s would work well...

    Rear axle ratio choices

I know for a fact that going to 2.73s from 3.55/3.73 on a Crown Vic (4.6L 2V / 4R70W) will result in a gain of up to 10 MPG on the highway, namely because the engine RPMs are kept below 2000 RPM at 80 MPH. My 07 GT gets about 23-25 MPG on the highway. I would like to see close to 30 MPG and the...

    Rear axle ratio choices

Has anyone swapped in 2.73s for their S197? I can't seem to find any brand new for under $400 a set. I also can't seem to locate numerically lower gears like 2.6x, 2.5x, or 2.4x

    Bought a used GT500 & Need Advice

FYI I have heard numerous tales about SVT denying warranty work due to racing or abuse. While a GT500 is a performance oriented car, the OEM is very quick to deny warranty work since many owners "abuse" the car and expect someone else to foot the bill. This is the same for other performance...
