    Do you have spark? It shouldn't make a difference that you pulled the plug wire off, as far as the ignition system goes. It essentially does that as the rotor turns under the distributor cap anyway.

    I wouldn't bother. You can find iron GT40's in decent shape for $200-250. Check on http://car-part.com for 90's Explorer heads. You'll find them in the standard GT40 and GT40P varieties.

    If the IAC is raising the idle speed, it's working. Definitely see if it's throwing any codes. Most auto parts stores will scan them free of charge if you don't have an OBD II scanner.

    Did it fall to the floor, or just take out slack and fall, catching itself on the chains to the front and back of the heads? If the latter and the bolts didn't pull out and strip, you're fine. Remember, your heads are containing explosions, a little tug on the head isn't going to hurt it.

    I picked up an Explorer engine years ago and finding the screw-on adapter for the oil filter was a PITA. I ended up getting one off eBay for like $3, but with like $10 in shipping, so I could have it overnight. Those little odds and ends will get ya.
