    Carb Installation Question

Estevaf, I have an idea, How long are the carb studs? That will give us an idea what all is suppose to be on top the intake.

I'm guessing it's the heat isolator 'gasket'.

    engine swap for 302 -- 6 or 4 cyl-OD

Isn't that a question. My guess is he is looking for mileage, all needed for that are tires that fit comfortably in the wheelwells, 2.79 gears and a set of heads and pistons that make a little better compression than stock. That should get the car into the 20s. And about hte OP: I don't think...

    Gear Ratio?

IIRC the V8 manual was a wide ratio? Anyhow, if the 13 inch tires are still being used there should be no real problem using 2.79 gears with the 4 gear. When I lived in the Pittsburgh / West Mifflin area (hilly) I ran 2.79s with ~ 205/70/14 tires behind a RUG wide ratio and 'stock power'...

    A/C question

I can just about see the "T" .. Yes, there is a check valve, and I believe your correct with it having an integral check valve. There is a check valve on manifold vacuum somewhere. Man Vac goes into the base of the T, one branch goes to the Vac can behind the right fender, the other branch...

    A/C question

Golly its been a long time since I've seen a factory carb set up from the factory. Far as the "valve mention above', the hot coolant shut off valve, no, this hose DOES NOT go to this valve. This valve is operated via vacuum hose from the heat/AC control valve in the dash. I believe the hose...

    Clutch cable conundrum

So the issue is the nut won't clear the bell and can't threaded onto the cable end? A vise and file or grinder to reduce the nuts diameter (and a little Loc-Tite) would get you on the road. Or Grainger/ McMaster Carr may have a nut that works.

    Stumpy's subframe connector question

You mean those "bumps" at the rear outside of the front uni-body? I was curious myself.

need carb for my II, I live in BFE....HELP ME!!!

Yes, they do. And they work well. And you can still get rebuild kits for the Holley. I have the small Holley, got it with a 302. Rebuilt it and put it on the V6, then for fun put it on a 351. The 6 revved like a SOB, choked the 351 at about 3500 but DAMN! The low end throttle response...

    70's Cars Make Me Happy!

I didn't like '70s Chevies much in the '70s, still not fond of many of the models. Now models based on some platforms like the Vega and Camero are somewhat pleasant trips down memory lane.

    Price for selling a 1978 4cyl coupe?

Heres a selling point: The four banger unitbodies are the least stressed out there so if you want to build a V8 II it's the body you want.

    Starter issues

Yep. I just counted the teeth on two starters, one from a '88 AOD and the other from a 69 Bronco with 11" clutch / '67 Mustang with a 10". Both had 9 teeth. I should measure how far they move/ how far they poke out. Maybe later. In a 'recent' (?) thread someone posted they thought...

    Starter issues

Didn't different bendix used in different applications have different tooth counts? If it's the wrong engine to bell spacer plate that piece of sheet metal (spacer) won't match the bell footprint but more importantly, since the plate is doweled to the engine and trans the starter will not...
