    Hood/Cowl Damage

I wouldn't count on the pin staying in. And I wouldn't count on hte cosmetic adhesive holding. I have to admit the thought of a flipping hood taking out the cowl is enough to make me put in some ugly assed pins or chain down the hood. Or something.

    liscence plate bulb

The 1155 is still available, and I'll bet I have a bunch in the garage somewhere. But thats not why I'm posting. I looked up the 1155 base and ran it through a Google Image Search. I had no idea the BA15S BASE has that number of bulbs fit in them, now even in LED.

    Rusted bolt question

Theres propane heat. Then theres MAP gas/ plumbers torch heat. Then theres Blue Wrench heat. I don't know how I would have gotten through some things without the Blue Wrench.

    Rusted bolt question

Except for that 1/2 inch of bolt sticking out. Which is why I avoid easy-outs.

    Rusted bolt question

Put your grips on and press back and forth, don't try to actually turn the bolt. Should eventually start moving.

    Too hot of a thermostat?

And the cooling system works better when hotter too.

    Electric Choke Draining Battery?

Been a while since I looked at the schematic for a 'classic' alternator. Ford did wire the electric chokes to a post on the alternator, I believe the post was marked Stator, that post was wired into either one leg of the stator OR was wired so it would get only 1/2 wave rectification so the...

Is the 302 too out of date? Obsolete? Should the sn95 guys bail?

Isn't that a thing, Someone can be perfectly happy with with something until they listen to others talk then that thing which suited them fine becomes somehow tarnished. And those things that people are talking about don't need to matter.

Is the 302 too out of date? Obsolete? Should the sn95 guys bail?

Heres a thing, When the Mod motor came out I gave it an eyeball. IIRC the physical dimensions were on par with the old FE. And mass wise they were on par with the old FE. I had a 427 4V in a 68 wagon. It would skat and git. I would get 12 mpg more or less, Dad would get 17~19 open road. In...

    driveshaft damage??

V blocks and an indicator, test rod and accurate level, best to take it to a machine shop and have it checked, other than that and your I would at least take a couple of pieces of wood with a V cut in them to set the shaft in and turn to see if it has a hump.

Is the 302 too out of date? Obsolete? Should the sn95 guys bail?

Well, you know 1) at one time the term "Hot Rod" referred to ol iron produced through the 50's that was made a bit faster ... but that was through the '70s so I guess in 2010 the '90s could be considered old, but more importantly, 2) "Hot Rod" meant something the owner of a car did to a car, put...

    front alignment

Thats a good question. Even if the shaft hasn't slipped often enough to tear up the top of the pocket too badly tightening the shaft bolt can cause a dimple. Dimples aren't bad if the dimples where you need it to be. If the dimple is any off from where you want the shaft the shaft isn't...

    front alignment

The bottom of the upper control arm shaft is knurled, or at least the shaft is knurled where the bolts go through the shaft. This is so when the bolts are tightened the knurling bites into the top of the spring pocket and holds the shaft/ arm in place. Then the shaft slips and starts...

    Straight 6 Power Upgrades

Found a site, FordSix.Com This website is for inline enthusiasts looking for ways to update and/or modify the “small block” (144/170/200/250ci) or “big block” (240/300ci) inline six-cylinder engines. These great little motors have been overlooked for their performance potential, and what...

9" 3rd member from yard w/ good ratio?

Integral carriers can be a bit intimidating, sometimes you need special tools or fixtures. Ford 8 and 9" are different, if you have a 'calibrated sensory system' that can feel preloads you really only need a 'spotting agent' (grease works). There is a lash check, can be gotten around with...

    Nice PhotoShop Restyle

This is something I've looked at allot and some day I'll get off my dead ass and do 'it'. I've always had a problem with the visual of how far back the front wheels sit. And there is the thing about the engine sitting out in front of the spindle line. Hmmm, ... If the suspension was slid...

    oil out the dipstick

A compression check will let you know which cylinders you need to look at (more than the others) when you take the engine apart. I'm afraid taking the engine apart is in your future. Hopefully it's just a popped head casket blowing off into the crankcase. I would like to think it was...

9" 3rd member from yard w/ good ratio?

All gears swap between 9" no matter the spline so the worst you would have to do is swap gears. And I'm pretty sure all pinion carriers swap between chunks so you shouldn't even have to take the pinion apart. In essence just buy the chunk for the gears. There are different length yokes on the...

    Ground question help needed

Voltage slowly drops while idling? That's pretty common. What does it do at 'test' rpm? What did it do before relocating the battery? Even though the chassis makes a decent conductor I've always figured there should also be a dedicated ground back to the engine and front of the vehicle if...
