    oil line hole

drain hole Only 2 rules that I have heard are...Large diameter drain tube, back pressure on the turbo oil supply is a bad thing. Also, drain hole must be above the oil level line. Stock setup is this way and I have heard this repeated by builders that I think are bright. Bruce (TX)

Ok guys, gimmie your best stories

Oh my this could take a while! I will try to condense.. Found a wedding ring, lighter and a poloroid of the former owners. Just happen to recognise them from the pic one day at a local restaurant... They were crying when I gave them the ring back. Bought a 66 coupe with a "broken crank"...

    Info on 1983 Ragtops!!

They are kinda fun! I got one about 6 months ago myself. Early car with the SROD 4 speed and it is a blast. Top prices vary, I plan on doing it myself and about 250 dollars for the top. The underhood wiring has become brittle and required some repairs but this is a Texas car and we get a bit...

I told him NA is not a good way to go if ya want more pep but no thick headed basterd

Some people You are right! While they may be out there, I have never seen or heard of a sucessful Volvo head swap. The dollar per horsepower gain is going to be in the ridiculous range. My guess would be $100 per HP would not be out of line for the Volvo swap. Kinda reminds me of hearing my...

    i DON'T want to buy a 2.3 turbo

Turbo engines The turbo motors I have are totally stock. I got the GT turbo vert by accident, I was looking for a 5.0 vert and found it for less than $500. Turbo bird was bought for an engine swap into a 91 vert, but it runs so well I cannot bring myself to take the bird apart. It has rust...

    T-5 swap driveshaft Question

I was told that the only diff between the auto and standard driveshaft was the front yoke. I bought a t-5 and ALL the stuff...pedals, flywheel,crossmember..all the stuff on a swap list. I asked for the driveshaft also and when I got it it was torched off a few inches back of the front U joint s...

    i DON'T want to buy a 2.3 turbo

Togh blocks I have been around these engines since the early Pinto days. I have never run across a block or crank problem. I did see a block that was nearly torn in half due to a piston/wrist pin/upper con rod blowup. Crank torn up due to spun bearing after oil pump failure. Carb bolt...

my new 92 2.3 runs terrible

Hello again Welcome to Stangnet! Still vote for the coil packs. I had a similar prob on my 91 vert. I found a bad coil pack and a vacuum leak. Coil pack I got from a junkyard ($10 for 2 off a Ranger) and replaced the vacuum hose along the firewall. Sounds like you may have bought a car that has...

    Transmission woes

sounds familiar I have the same problem...91 A4LD with no OD! Transmission guy said $900.00 and I have discovered that this is a good price. I decided t0 learn to rebuild myself. Careful study said it should be the rear one way clutch gone bad. Sure enough it was toast. replaced all the wear...

69 Tach Cluster into non-tach car

Cheap stuff huh!! I have done this swap several times. I even put a Cougar XR-7 tach dash in a 70 vert once! A cheap trick for the amp gauge wiring is this....Nearly every car or truck with a V8 or straight 6 till about 1983 used the voltage regulator harness that will allow you to use the AMP...

1989 2 wire or 3 wire tranny question

Yes you can!!! I just did this myself. I put a 2 wire (early) into my 91 (3 wire). If the tranny is out of the car its a snap. You can swap the valve bodies and they will work just fine. Just pay attention to those little 10mm bolts that are different length and should go back in the same hole...

ok, so how do you find a turbo?

How to find a turbocoupe I was watching the classifieds, reading all the local "shopper" papers, had friends in various parts stores keeping an eye out, got in tight with the pizza guys/gearheads (they see everything), drove past all the car lots at least twice a week, scrapmetal yard guys were...

    Your Small Pet Peeves

    Any tips for trans removal?

A4LD stuff I have no idea what is wrong with my tranny. Mustangs with bad auto trans are cheap around here so I ended up with 6 of them (total cost under $1500.) Mine is a 91 vert..beautiful car but bad tranny. I spent about 2 weeks familiarizing myself with the rebuild, bought the parts, even...

    Any tips for trans removal?

A4LD tips Get the car high enough! Get a 13 mm GearWrench..made life easier! Remove the dipstick tube before you drop the tranny. Careful with the electrical connections, they are fragile. Use a big ratchet on the balancer pulley to rotate the engine for access to the torque converter...
