65-66 mustang have smaller transmission tunnels then the later mustangs. With that said, you can only install a T-5 into a 65-66 without cutting the car up. Yes a 3550/TKOs can be install if you are willing to remove the floor...
I've emailed them, as I'm very curious myself. I'd love to have a 500 or 600 if it was possible to do without cutting anything up. Otherwise, I think I'm headed for a very expensive G-force and a less than optimal shifter. I'll post any results I get.
Flex-A-Form warns against torquing the U-bolts over 50lbs, so I did it to 50lbs on the nose. I thought it was strange most of the U-bolt kits only come with flat washers. If them coming undone is so common, is lock-tite a good idea?
I'm considering the Rallys, or the Unique Performance seats - which are Rallys with a different (nicer, imo) stitching pattern and Caroll Shelby's name on them for $799 with brackets. Tough call, $100 for a nicer pattern ...
I purchased them directly, $400 shipped. I don't know anything about the requirement to seal them - they are covered in a thick black paint. You can see a few spots where the white material is peeking through in the picture.
Sorry, I didn't get around to driving it until *yesterday* due to work/family scheduling - and even then, I wasn't able to take it for a very long spin. :(
It seems to me that the rear is more firmly located than before, and the whole car feels more stable/predictable. It also seems less...
Someone posted elsewhere that GW recommended against using their bushings in composite springs.
I went with Mustang Depot's Prothane HD shackle kit instead. The Flex-A-Forms had bushings that were the same as the original diameter. In my case, they reversed them front and rear, and the...
Worked like a champ, just wish I'd looked up there BEFORE I'd smashed the new bushings in there, what a PITA to get it all back out again.
thanks guys!
Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I have found going off and drinking a beer and coming back gives ample time for a solution to present itself for most problems in life. :)
Any ideas? :)
On the passenger side, I had an extra 2-3 inches of clearance between the frame rail and the gas tank ... not exactly sure how I can get this bolt in?!
I sure don't want to have to go back to the stock shackle on one side after I've already done the other side with the...
I ended up doing the obvious, despite being recommended against in the instructions - I popped the bushings out and swapped them, fits like a champ.
I'm not sure why they say don't do this, a quick google search found quite a few people removing the urethane bushings from the flex-a-forms and...
FYI, as a follow-up to this, I talked to Arizen and they said:
"We do not recommend the seats for Mustangs in the 60's or early 70's. The seats would likely sit too high in the front unless the floor was modified. We have shops that have installed them such as below but they did modify the...
I finally got around to attempting the install on my Flex-A-Form composite leafs today, despite receiving them several months ago. Disassembly of the first side was a snap - surprisingly. I knew, of course, this meant I was doomed. :)
Top spring - stock, bottom spring - FaF. I'm...
