    You really need to get the car tuned for your Stage 2 cams, especially since you are blown. Hopefully this tapping noise isn't something that has developed from a lean condition or worse, detonation. When was the last time you checked your valve lash? Should be between .120-150 preload.

    I would second drilling and tapping the t-stat housing. It's very simple, and you can get a decent tap and die set fairly cheap at places like Harbor Freight and other auto parts stores. I'd recommend removing the t-stat housing while you're doing the work on it.
