Hearne -
I'm running Patriot Tri-Y's right now (1.5" primaries with 2.5" collectors) on the 352 (302 + 3.4 + 0.060). I bought these headers for my mild 289, but some cracked cam bearings caused me to pull the motor and install the 352 (which was ready to go anyhow).
Brief background on...
Does anyone know who would make or where to find a set of full length headers to fit a stroked 302 in a 1966 Mustang with Canfield heads (exhaust port raised 0.400")? Also would be nice to fit them on my 1967 when I switch motors down the road.
I would like 1 3/4" primaries or stepped 1 3/4"...
Besides leaking oil for while, something looks wrong with the frame near the drivers side torque box "Mach1US41" (looks like something was welded there - with sloppy welds and is now rusting). Also there are some weird gaps and spot welds near the rocker panel.
Although most of my...
Sounds like you had fun. Mines almost ready for the track (similar build), but I don't think I will make it before it closes for the season.
If you are still running street BFs...adding/upgrading traction should be you next purchase.
Could someone help me find the location on a 1965/66 rear end housing where the vent tube fitting comes out of the rear end? I replace my 1966 8" rear end with a 1957 9" rear end (the 8" is long gone).
The vent tube fittings are in different locations on the rear end and I had to make custom...
Personally I would stay away from Mustangs Plus hoods. Here is my experience with one of their GT350 hoods (http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=716142&highlight=hood+fiberglass). Unless you like doing a lot of fiberglass work.
Search and ask around about quality and fitment before...
Nice site Ultrastang! Found this matching my rearend:
1957-1959 STATION WAGON/RANCHERO 9-INCH (Large Axle Bearing Housing)
2. Axle Seals: p/n 51098 (2 req.).
It might be hard to read the part number because the driveline shop used silicone around the base of the seal and housing...
That's what I'm starting to question myself. The PO bought new seals and bearings for the housing, I just had them installed by a driveline shop. I could measure the seals vs the axles, but I'm unsure of how much "undersize" a seal has to be for a given size axle?
It looks like gear oil is getting pass the axle seal in the 9” big bearing rear end (both sides), but only leaking on one. Is it normal to have gear oil leak pass the axle seal and get stopped by the flange seal? Both axle seals are new and the axle surface shows no grove in it.
When...
Sorry I don't have any info on a smog pump, but I was curious if your 1966 was built in San Jose/Milpitas with a DSO in California (I see your from NC). I was under the impression that only 1966 Mustangs built and delivered in California required a smog pump?
Have you tried the concours...
+1 on the rearend upgrade. It's not a power boost, but will make your car more efficient in the quarter mile with the right gears. With the C4 and that mild cam, start looking at 3.50:1 gears (w/ trac lok, truetrac, locker). :nice:
Looks like the stuff I used between my gas tank and supporting sheetmetal. I've also used it where the top of the fender meets/bolts with the engine compartment.
I see your point with coupes, but some 65-70 fastbacks are less common than GT coupes. There were more '66 GT coupes made than plain jane '66 fastbacks. This one might fall under supply and demand (one of the many reasons I bought my '66 fastback).
I think we have all been through this to some degree. I try to do everything myself, but most home mechanics don't have everything, so outsourcing does happen time to time. I usually use people that are highly recommended (word of mouth or from forums like this). Once I found a person/company...
143.7 MPH !!!
Just watching the high boost turbo V8 street cars at the track is a thrill within itself. Hook it up at the track and you'll break that 10.0 second barrier. :nice:
Yes the centerline of the hood is above the fender height - you might have enough clearance. I'm using a Victor Jr. on my 302 stroker in my 1966. I do have a Shelby fiberglass hood, but I'm not using a drop base air cleaner = very tight fit.
Beside the air cleaner change, another expensive...
