    ATF through the intake

    ATF has detergents in it. my guess is the theory behind it is to disolve the carbon with the detergent. I would think it may do that but foul the plugs and cats in the process.

    I suppose that could happen. My next step was to reset the ecu and reload my Predator Tune. I'll change the battery tonight anyway, it's got a dead cell for sure. If it still misses I'l put a data logger on it.

    It didn't throw any codes yet. It behaved better today only missed a few times. Yesterday there was a ton of traffic so all I did was stop and start and idle. This morning I got the RPM's up for about 20 min. I'll let sears auto check the alternator and battery while I eat lunch. We'll see...

    I used the autolite 764 with a .054 plug gap. I can't say what's good for blown engines. But these plugs were a wake up call for my stock motor. The platinum ones were terrible in comparison. The engine ran smoother than new.

    I hadn't driven my 01 auto GT in 5 or 6 days. The battery is original and now has the red dot in the indicator. I drove it this morning and it started to misfire between 1000 and 1500 rpm while driving and on idle. Above 1500 its fine. Before I replace it I just want to see if that happened...

    There is a Ford TSB that states if customer is complaining of part throttle ping then increasing octane is the fix. For me it didn't make anything worse switching to a higher octane. The car ran 10 times better without any other modifications

    This is a normal problem. The short end of a long story is that the motor and stock ecu programming were not intended to be run on 87 octane. It will also suck plenty of oil through the intake. That will lower the 87 even further. I solved my problem by changing my pcv, adding a moisture...
