    Why A Fox?

I grew up as a young kid drooling over fox bodies. The sound was the main thing that got me hooked. Hearing a fox, with an off-road midpope and flow masters I would stop everything and watch it drive by. When I got mine, the nastalgia as well as the cheap parts and easy to work on kept me in a...

    Cam Talk

Dyno numbers are tough to compare. I made 272 rwhp years ago. My combo didn't change other than my midpipe (went from a pro chamber to an X) and mufflers (went from Mac with tails to dumped spintechs) and I made 256 rwhp. My car ran faster with the less power (not much faster, but slightly)...

    Cam Talk

You can make something of the stock heads (take my word for it) but I agree that for the money spent, your better off going with a better head. Unless you have some reason to keep the stockers, I say get a better head, and go for an aluminum set if possible.

    Cam Talk

I'd keep the stocker with basic heads and an explorer intake upgrade. Get an adjustable timing set, and retard the cam a few degrees. Moves the power band up. That's how mine is set up and I prefer it. Once your into a good set of heads, intake and supporting mods, I'd look into a custom cam.

    Lets Talk Dot Drag Tires

That car sure does look nice, but I think because of how fast it is. If it was a 12-14 second car, I'd probably think the large tires were over kill. Also is 28" optimal in your opinion? Run that tire and gear accordingly, or always go for the biggest tire?

    Lets Talk Dot Drag Tires

I would never gear up and run a 28" tire for the track. Just me personally, but in doing so, you now need to adjust your street tires to make up for the gear change. A 28" race tire looks good, but a 28" street wheel/tire set up, can't say I'd like the look. My suggestion is keep it 27" tire or...

    Lets Talk Dot Drag Tires

That's what my Ranger axle did. Even when they do break, it's quite a beating they seem to take before going.

    Lets Talk Dot Drag Tires

F8tlfiveo I had 140,000 mile axles going 1.6-1.7 60's for many years. Then put Ranger axles in and the 3rd hit I snapped one. Axles are hit or miss.

    Lets Talk Dot Drag Tires

It sounds like the best way to do what you want is to run a good (going to need to ask the DR guys) drag radial. I tried Nittos, and found my street tires as good (only ran Nittos once at the track but didn't 60' well). I have heard the BFGs are a bit better and the MTs even better. I doubt your...

    Stock Rebuild Help

A5Liter, I agree that for the most part the heads will be the bottle neck. Unless you plan to spend some money on them, they aren't that great as they sit. Better off with a GT40 on a budget or an aluminum head.

Is It Time To Upgrade To 24lb Injectors?

Used to have a shift light. Got rid of it years ago. I honestly don't look at the tach running down the track, I just tend to feel the car out and shift when I think it needs it. I've even found when running cars with shift lights I don't use them. Seems to be working for the time being.

What Cam For A 302 Buildup

I agree, what are you looking for? Optimum performance, that lumpy can note, or something else? I am a fan of going custom. Speak to a cam guru and have him work through the one you need.

Fox Need Help With Some Parts

I'm a huge proponent of doing long tubes. I have never had heat soak issues, and have worked around them on starters and transmissions. Mine however are Mac long tubes. I would think your mechanic would be able to check on long tubes for auto cars and see they are available.

Is It Time To Upgrade To 24lb Injectors?

Just as a reference, I shift at 6500 on my stock tach. Verified on the dyno this is about 5500 RPM.

    Looked At A Notchback Yesterday.

I had a 93 2.3 5speed and it was not a great daily driver. It only got in the mid 20 mpg as you need to be on the throttle to keep up with traffic. It was so worse in the snow than my 5.0 car as it has an open rear and any weight to help with traction just slowed the car down.

    Fox Tko Or Astro

My sisters fox has a 3550 and although different comparisons, the shifting is much rougher than my T5. Can't argue with a stronger housing though.

Fox Shifting Problem When It Rains

Clutch cables are not too bad to replace. Get a stock replacement and enjoy the driving the car rain or shine, in my opinion.

How Shtty An Idea Are Exhaust Cutouts?

You can make one plenty loud through some form of muffler or resonator. It will cost more than a cheap cut out, but will be a better sound and get the fumes out the back of the car. I probably preach it too much, but look for some used exhaust component if your on a tight budget. Off road mid...

How Shtty An Idea Are Exhaust Cutouts?

Have you heard a 5.0 Mustang with open headers? I'm not sure on your cars modifications, but a near stock/mild 5.0 does not sound good with open headers.
